Anyone play guitar?

Why do my two bass strings vibrate so much? Whenever I pluck them with any strength, they begin vibrating against something hella. The neck and bridge look straight. I can't shake it and hear any loose parts within the guitar. Anyone know what else I should try?

Are they buzzing on the frets? Could be a truss rod issue. Push down on the first and last frets and check the gap between the strings and the frets in the middle.

Could be low action or a high fret that is giving you that buzz.

Finally popped my open mic cherry tonight. Was a really good experience.

Scary af but good. Just getting out and doing in in general but got good feedback and people liked my songs.

Gives me more confidence to go back. Met some cool people, saw some talented people. Good vibes.

Thanks man. Yeah for sure. There were a lot of people and a lot of good musicians. The guy came up and asked if I still wanted to play because it was getting late. Could have easily bailed. Glad i didnt.

Hopefully will start feeling less terrified each time.

Helps to have done it once at least and also now know a few people there

gets less scary the more you do it, especially if you're playing in a group of people. I actually love the nervous feeling you get when performing cause there's nothing like it.

Yeah I figured. Felt pretty cool though. After sitting and watching a bunch of good people play, and ready feeling anxious that day unrelated to the open mic. Def was scary. Place was packed. All strangers.

Felt good to follow through with it and play. Def going to go every week while im up here. Met some cool people got some good feedback. One of the guys wants to help me record one of my songs so thats sweet. Just garage vibe thing but i suck at figuring that shit out by myself.

Was cool talking to some of the people that played though. Ine of the guys used to play guitar and stopped for years, but his gf convinced him to start playing so they could sing together and stuff. He said first week he was really scared and now the place is like church.

Def seems like a good vibe between the people. Def better if you dont suck, but i feel like theyd still be supportive if you did. Especially if you came back and did better.

Idk it was a really positive experience for me. The guitar has really changed my life these last 2 years. Sounds cheesy but i really did find it when i needed it most. Quarantine would have been rough for me withour it. And even life in general. Music is fucking awesome

Did you sing as well? I jam with some kids and we wanna start playing at parties this summer. I don’t see myself getting too nervous about the guitar aspect but more trying to sing because I was kinda voted into being the one to and I suck lol. We could always just jam too but I feel like that might get boring to most if there’s no singing/ something to sing to

Just sing some songs youre all familiar with that are easy. Just do it. Def makes sense getting nervous but only way to get more comfy is to do it. Start with in your group and then see how it goes.

I feel you thow its hard. I was super scared honestly. Buddy was saying its the busiest open mic he's seen there too whoch didn't help. But yeah you go thos. Jist start small. Sing by yourself playing, sing with your friends, maybe you'll get comfy enough to try and sing in front of more people.

Def needed to hear this, best way to practice is do it as much as you can like you said. But for tips Is there anyway that helped make your voice sound better? Damn dude mad props to you for getting up there I’d be shitting my pants lmao

Idk man. Just do it. Im mad scared about singing and playing. I had bad anxiety to the point o didn't even sing in the car by myself. Just do ir. Work your way up. Baby steps. It's hard not to stress it but relax as much as you can. I still dont like people to hear me sing or even play. I go out of my way to avoid people. But felt really good to do that open mic. People were digging it. And even if they weren't they would have been supportive for me trying. Even if i ate shit and staryed crying or something. Idk. People understand how hard it is to put yourself out there and will respond as such. It's a cool outlet. I hope to get more comfortable with it and write more music.

Def post up if you get sendy. Even if it scared you It's a cool feeling to conquer that. Like trying a ski trick that you finally go for. Even if you slip out on the rail everyones hyped that you tried it. Some people will never try that, some people will never even hit that rail. Just by going for it you're on another level. People will appreciate

good luck finding a metal drummer they’re the rarest breed ong

Hit an open mic again today. First song dropped the pic and was generally nervous but think it went even better than the last time.

I really gotta play at acoustic electic more and sing with a mic. Hard to guage but people really liked it.

Still super nervous. But feels good playing my originals.

It was quiet ish tonight so dude wanted people to play a few. Ended up playing 4 originals and 1 cover. 2 are pretty short.

But felt more comfortable with it. Idk. Just trying to get over the fears. Will be a long journey. Actually sounding decent though I think. Felt good to play a couple I've never played in front of people even roommates.

How do you guys decide on a guitar color wise if it ever comes down to it for you? Looking to pick up a fender Strat just so many colors so overwhelming

i care a little more about specs than the look, but i usually prefer solid colors over any of the special veneer shit ibanez or gibson does. my first guitar i bought was a show off looking indonesian ibanez and i’ve grown to despise it.

Yeah Im looking at all the same strat model so the specs are the same but prob gonna go with something classic like Olympic white, sunburst or black

Yeah found a good deal on a barely used one thing Ima go for it. Itd be hard to pay 850 for a new one when there’s used ones in almost new condition out there for like 550

Finally got back to ioen mic tonight. 3rd time. Went really well. Played a short set, 3 originals. 1 i was really scared to play others i had played once or twice. The new one went really well and some people really like the other one I've played every week. Resonates with people which is cool. A lady came out for the first time tonoght and cried during it i guess. I had my eyes half closed cause the last song made me so nervous lol.

But feels good especially to just get a clean smooth set. But then to have people really into the songs was a bonus. Idk I'm not ine of those people that thinks they're the shit and wants the confirmation. I mean it's always cool to get good feedback but I'm more the, friend tried for months to get ne to go, finally went. And every original I've played has scared the fuck out of me. Leg will start shaking sometimes. So it's really cool to get good feeback because i feel like im jumping off a fucking high dive.

Some songs are gonna hit. Some songs arent, I'll still fuck up sometimes I'm sure. But felt awesome to have a good performance.

Might record one of my songs this week to get it down because people have been asking to listen to it. I think it's ready. Both nervous and stoked.

Hope i can get it down in a way that resonates not just with people listening but what Im feeling when i sing it/wrote it.

Will post it if it comes out okay.

Def a big confidence boost tonight. Still very fucking low confidence but it means a lot if a couple people at some brewery believe in any of my songs.

Also was kind of cool that one of the people I didn't know came up to me because it inspired him to make this sort of trippy deal. Still don't have a name for the song and probably won't call it heart of America but who knows. But i like the effort.

That’s pretty cool man, I am cool as a cucumber to play backup guitar at open mic but if they asked me to sing I would run away.

Dude I feel that so much! Well as a drummer. I mean at a certain level I'd get anxiety but I feel I could jump in front of a wayyyy bigger crowd than I ever deserve to be in front of on drums, especially if I knew the people playing and feel pretty good, at least for a song or two.

Put me on the mic doing the full, hey look at me, are you not entertained? fuck. it's super scary honestly. It's good though. I have a lot of anxiety issues. I can only see small results as I just started but I think it'll go a long way in playing and hopefully general confidence.

I used to be scared to talk to people and would just force myself to do it. This is kinda the same thing in a way.

Some people don't want to and that's cool. But if you eve want to I def encourage anybody to give it a try. Even worst case ontario it's a pretty good feeling to have done it, and most people in the crowd probably won't have rotten cabbage on hand to throw at you lol.

That's sick just playing music in general. I miss playing when I lived back east. Haven't played consistently in years. And even then was "consistent" ya know. But I had to move out of that area. But yeah just any kind of music is sick. Jamming with people is the best. Sometimes you don't want to/need to be in the front.

I never did but kinda hard on the acoustic thing lol. Sorta have to. But it's going okay.

I'm tired and suck at straight forward replies sometimes. Hopefully this was partially legible.

had to leave my bass and drums when I moved, luckily I still have my guitar. I miss beating on the drums, it was a great outlet for frustration

That’s exciting. What’d you get?

Martin d12 acoustic electric. Pretty hyped honestly. Will be sweet to be able to play plugged in more so it doesn't sound weird to me when I play. Also can loop and jam over shit.

Gonna be sick! Also bought it from Sweetwater so should be good to go. They do a pretty good job about checking things out and shipping properly.

Will do!! I'm hyped

Also as far as thread. I get into weird zone when I'm sleep deprived sometimes. I got called out of rebuilding the park tonight so I took a nap because I was too tired to be alive. Woke up still tired but trying to enjoy my weekend. Pulled out the guitar and whiskey. I think I wrote one of my better songs tonight. Will see how it plays. Gonna hit an open mic tomorrow and test it out. Felt friggin good though.

I just dropped 1400 on a guitar. I'm kinda broke honestly. When I bought my current guitar for 160 i didn't know if I could afford rent, hoped I'd play it. I played the fuck out of it all the time, I mean played it, not like I was instantly good at it lol. I played it all the time. I feel similar now. I had to borrow guitars to play because I don't own an acoustic electric. I'm pretty hyped. Money is money but it's something that means a lot to me.

Might try to record a few songs proper this spring if I can save some cash back up. thought about it last year and had loot saved but that was before/when I started playing in front of people and was still mad shy and figuring it out. Still mad shy and figuring it out but have it more dialed.

Idk, the guitar has been the most positive influence in my life and arguably having as much impact as me touching skis or a snowboard. Music helps me hold everything together. Idk, cool story lol

Fuck it, I'll post a new song. I kinda like when they're raw a little bit. I'm sure I'll tweak some things and clean it up but whatever. Wasn't uploading here so chucked it on youtube. Calling it "Sticks and Stones" I think.

Was supposed to work grave shift 2 nights ago, got called off. took a half hour nap, woke up feeling kind of zombie mode. Drank a little whisky and came out with this.
