Anyone near Zermatt?

I will be in Zermatt tomorrow (May 8th) and will be staying there for 3 days. Im on a backpacking trip with a friend, who had to take a last minute flight out for an interview. In the meantime I was hoping to get some skiing in at Zermatt.

Anyone from the area have any advice or info I should know?

I was not planning on skiing here so I have no equipment other than my ski jacket. No pants, gloves, goggles, hat, or skis and boots.

If you know where to get some cheap beer or would be willing to let me borrow some stuff in exchange for some beer, that would be awesome.

Hey, I live in Lausanne, but i can give you some pointers:

-The taxis are corrupt so make sure you negotiate beforehand and dont let them rush you. Just tell them to chill or you will take the next one.

-Its a pretty expensive place but there are some good cheaper places around the Sunega area

-Everyone smokes so ask around (if thats what your into).

have fun dude. and the 30 min. train to the lookout point isnt worth it. Rent some shit and ride, the snow is amazing all year around, the glacier is at like 3000.
