looking to get a new hdtv. the tv I have now is an old projection piece of shit I used in college. I have about 900-1000$ to spend (probably in installments). looking at samsung and other quality brands. I want something pretty large, obviously 1080p. looking at 120hz, not sure how it ranks with 60hz, but I've heard its better? also, does anyone know anything about lcd/led tvs?
I guess I'm looking to know:
comparable brands to samsung46in minimum, worth spending $x to get 52/55in?60hz vs 120hzlcd vs lcd/ledinternet tvs- worth anything?anything else I should know?
keep in mind I have a ps3 with netflix and plan on using it primarily for movies and gaming (maybe getting hdtv service through comcast).
thanks

LED are the illest, but really expensive.

Size depends on the room, i have a 50" and its almost too big for the room.

Id suggest 120hz.

You can def find something under 1000 thats 1080p.

He has a PS3, bluray, games and netflix will be 1080p, dont post if you don't know what you're talking about.

I have a 42" samsung lcd and love it.
If you're going to use it for gaming, get LCD. LEDs have major lag issues but use less electricity.
60hz vs 120hz, always go higher. lower hertz = more screen lag for gaming. 240 hz is what you want if you play cod or halo on that big of a tv without tons of lag.
internet tvs are fun for the first week, then you realize that using a computer is 100x easier and faster. If you want your shiny new tv to be your computer monitor as well, most new tvs have the same inputs as computer monitors so that + wireless mouse and keyboard and you're set.
Keep in mind this is from a competitive gaming standpoint.

based on what you posted, I'm looking for over 40in and sitting closer than 9feet. I can't play call of duty far away and I want to see that asshole a mile across the map.
for 100$ extra bucks I can get a wireless internet adapter. someone I just talked to said the internet tvs aren't working as well as they will in the future. not sure if it's worth it. however I have a ps3 that'll most likely consistently be plugged into this guy. any thoughts?

My family just got a 46" 1080p tv for our living room. Watching tv on it takes some getting used to. Everything looks almost too real, you know? Like you can see every single little motion. That's not a problem for sports obviously, but i tried to watch Seinfeld earlier and i had to turn it off because it just looked wrong.

good looks.
and I have planet earth in bluray and haven't had the chance to see in huge in massive quality. I love those documentaries haha.

Actually almost all games out today play in about 600p and are stepped up to 1080p when played, making absolutely zero difference in appearance. It just looks nicer to have a four digit number.
MW2, BO, Reach, and even Halo 3 played in 600p

Its probably you're tv settings. there should be a setting for the 120hz shit, mine was on "clear" and i had what you were talking about, but i switched it to smooth and i never have the problem anymore.

You must also buy subs. Like 7, so when you're watching, oh say the superbowl, and someone makes a big hit, its loud enough for you to feel the hit. Its awesome. Buy replacement windows too.
Shenanigans aside, I forgot to mention that higher hertz (Hz) ratings = less blur. For gaming, it isn't so much blurry but really laggish. For sports, you'll be super thankful when you get the 120 or 240hz tv.

thats what I figured. in terms of the serial number or whatnot, I've seen two different tvs, exact same price, brand, hz, everything but those numbers. do you or anyone else know if there's any difference or it's just the look of the tv

I have some bose bookshelf speakers I might hook up to it. I think I blew them while in school though, but they sound good until they get real loud haha.
yeah I think I've dismissed the 60hz entirely. for $100 extra, it might be awesome haha

shit I don't think bestbuy ones are working. try this link.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?id=pcat17080&type=page&qp=crootcategoryid##-1##-1~~cabcat0100000%23%234%23%23wu~~cabcat0101000%23%237%23%236d~~cabcat0101001%23%230%23%233j~~f312%7C%7C4c434420466c61742d50616e656c~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d30312d3031~~nf862%7C%7C53616d73756e67&list=y&nrp=15&sc=TVVideoSP&ks=960&usc=abcat0100000&sp=-bestsellingsort+skuid&list=y&iht=n&st=processingtime%3A%3E1900-01-01
has all the samsung tvs at bestbuy. a few different 46in, 1080p, 120hz for some reason. can't tell the difference.

not sure what you mean. you mean the b610 or like the different number like 530/610 and so on?

give link for example?

the walmart one I posted is LN46C600
one of the bestbuy ones is LN46C670. I can't link bestbuy ones for some reason

you looked at the spec sheet? sometimes the dynamic ratio and hz rate is different with different numbered samsung tv's.

sometimes it can also vary if they are internet enabled or have any widgets. more interface features than technical performance features.

different numbers are also sometimes the same tv, but only the 670 is the same as the 600, but the 670 is exclusive to bestbuy, so they don't have to price match the 600 prices.

make sense?

I'll check the spec sheet more in depth. The tvs themselves look a little different in simply the trim, but I'm sure it's more than that haha. thanks

well thats another thing. they have that touch of color red trim shit, and it becomes a whole new number and more expensive. do you really need that?

nah just the trim in general is different. I haven't looked at the touch of red shit. don't know why you would need that ha.
