Anyone know a good free DVD ripper?

Going on a spring trip to Vail in about 5 days. Got a few hours on the plan and 2 in a car. That being said, I need movie! Does anyone know any free DVD rippers, that has worked for them in the past? Looking to put them on an iPad. +K for anything that works! Thanks NS!
