what time is it?.....4:20

ska is about as cool as gay people and pink polo shirts

Check out Leftover Crack, if you can handle them.

MMB is classic; so, so much more than ska

Ska rocks, all the haters haven't heard true ska. They've prolly only heard horrible pop-ska bands like sublime. for true ska try Mustard Plug, Aquabats and Operaion Ivy. True jammin music.

Screw saving money, I want instant gratification now!

...No it's JF Cusson.

true ska is actually more like the Toasters and the Specials. big band rude boy shit! ya heard?

Yeah, I love ska! The O.C. Supertones, Five Iron Frenzy, Less Than Jake, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are all really good.

yeeeahhhh, someone mentions streetlight without me makin 'em, wooo. anyone listen to big d and the kids table? i dont know, i guess theyre kind of more punk on some songs but they rock

'for true ska try Mustard Plug, Aquabats and Operaion Ivy. True jammin music.'....the aquabats?! are you shitting me??? you're officially my new best friend if you consider the aquabats true jamming music....and to the kid above yeah, bid d and the kids table kick some serious ass

'does this sound like a musical robot?' - Spellbound

ska is sick, depending on the band, I like Operation Ivy.

How many emo kids does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Screw them, let them cry in the dark.

actually, to the guy who said what we are talking about isnt ska, he is correct. this is 3rd wave ska revival.

The Specials are not officially ska either though. They are 2nd wave British ska.

True ska came straight out of Jamaica

yeah, and ska actually came before raggae, a lot of people get that wrong also for some reason. probably because people suck. (go robots)

-Whats so fucking wrong, and whats so anti-establishment about the idea of peace? Why is wanting to know the truth so anti establishment?

These aren't anti-establishment ideas, these are Pro fucking peace ideas-

Gotta go and say the best ska band is the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Really good music and not just the mellow ska stuff people are used to. Listen to them.

The English Beat...some of the members later formed the specials...listen to 'mirror in the bathroom' for the definition of 2nd wave ska. as for newer stuff, operation ivy has some good songs.

publicenemy270: matty i love you

matty jeronimo: haha

matty jeronimo: thanks

matty jeronimo: of course

I'll have to totally disagree with you, there. Specials came before the (English) Beat, so Beat members couldn't have formed the specials. And better representation of 2nd Wave Ska would be like Guns of Navarone or Baggy Trousers or something. And thank you Jazz for finally fixing all of this 'true ska is aquabats and mustard plug and Bosstones' shit. Know your roots, people!

FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO SKANK!

Emo kids don't cry because they're sad all the time, they cry because they have to listen to that horrible music all the time. I'd cry if i had to listen to that whiny music over and over and over....wouldn't you?

(I'm in a band, go to purevolume.com and check out East Coast Skank. Our recording sucks, but bear with it...)

youre right, i mean to say the english beat came from the specials. good call.

RX Bandits are definately original. The Progress CD is amazing. Catch 22 is prolly my favorite ska band ever, and Streetlight Manifesto rocks too. Manifesto is playing at the Skate and Surf fest that I'm going to in a couple weeks. Old old RBF was cool too...they played Sellout on the radio the other day and I shit my pants. Same with old Less Than Jake. Anyone every heard of The Flaming Tsunamis or The Superspecs? Sorta more local east coast bands......

I too will say Mad Caddies, if for no other reason than for making an ABBA song good.

Mento+jazz=ska ->rocksteady, reggae

ska-> Brit ska -> two tone -> third wave

ska-core happened about the same time as the third wave, which is mostly punk or rock with horns and ska influence.

The definitive characteristics of ska are playing on the afterbeat and walking bass lines (similar to jazz), its not horns as most people seem to believe.

If we are going to get technical,

girl you know its true

so Voodoo Glow Skulls, Less Than Jake and Against all Athority (example) would be ska core and Bosstones and Buck-0-nine and Crypto Star would be 3rd wave?

let me just add thst I don't like Less than jakes new albume much.

======================================

Boycott Ipod!

Yeah, not a fan of the new less than jake....they are becoming a punk band. And they are definately a boring punk band.

I forgot Five Iron Frenzy...great call.

Anyone heard of the Spitvalves?
