Anyone into jazz?

you a sax player? i play tenor for my high school's jazz band, its pretty fun stuff. i actually just got a new (to me) sax.

lol i started this thread to show off the new jazz session video that i recorded, mixed, and mastered after playing on it. and it's turning into a youtube fest. haha did anyone watch the OP?
 
Saw them in 07. they put on a good show. Every once in a while I hear some of there songs somewhere and I'm like WUT? You know the cat empire?
 
lol. I said that I would and I now have. Wonderful music and I really do mean that. Awesome playing. One day I will get around to my jazz studying. I have had that as a goal for years, but I am stuck in a trap of just working on technique. Sucks. Did you study somewhere or are you self-taught?
 
so happy to see this thread. i love jazz. more specifically, acid jazz is my favorite.

i'm at university for a dual emphasis music degree in jazz studies and music technology. So i played, recorded, mixed and mastered that session haha. my younger brother filmed and edited the video.

i play with the guys in the video very often. we've started to play out once or twice a month. we're hoping that these videos make enough noise for us to get out there even more. Thanks for watching!
 
Hell yes I am. Wish I knew more about it and listened to it more, but I played drums in a jazz ensemble for a few years, and I love the genre.

1930's reeferjazz is some of the best things ever, i think it's important to know the roots of much of the music we enjoy today, like hip hop. Jazz hip hop is fucking chill, and something i listens to a lot.Also Blues is the shit!

Played junior and senior year in college. My college's best Jazz Band was rated the Best undergraduate jazz band in America by downbeat magazine. /claimI play String Bass btw
