If you just use it for a summer registration and insurance will be cheap and you should be able to sell it for what you bought it for or close to it. I'd imagine it'd be hard to find someone who will rent to someone who's 19. Maybe there's a way your parents can help? Idk

I drove across the country a few times in a 1998 volvo with 400000 miles, and just did it again in a newer one (with a reputation for unreliability) with around 150000 miles. No issues either way. You shouldn't have any trouble, especially if the HGs just got worked over. However, if you really don't want to take your car, Uhaul will rent to under 21s. Rented one to tow my first car home across Michigan/Ontario when I was 18. All they want is a credit card and a pulse.

14318401:weastcoast said:This might be not a bad option. I did the math, if I rented a UHaul van for 10 days it would be way cheaper than renting out a normal rental car. If parentals don’t let me take my sube we doing this

Their reputation for reliability came from the 240/redblock 4cyl engines, and once they started trying more complex stuff (starting with the 850), it went downhill.
