Anyone here wear pads?

If your looking for upper body

Look for a ski racing site.

My friend wears upper padding i think

hes a racer

I dont wear any padding but was really thinking about getting something that protects your hips a little more. Nothing worse than a hip pointer >_

iv never worn any pads, but after this weekend in breck im considering some hip protection.  i came up on the first box on the right at like 3:45, hit it and didnt know the landing was all iced out by that time in the day.  slipped out on my landing and hit fuckin hard,  my right hip is all purple and gnarly looking now.

i have protec hip pads and they are one of the best investments i ever made... idc if anyone calls me a pussy my friends did that last year and they all wound up with huge bruises on there thighs/asses that kept them from skiing and i laughed at them

My buddies and I have used the 661 body armor for a couple of years at the 'bird and its money. not restrictive but has pads where you need them

Dude your fuckin bleedin up a storm. Falling on cement will always hurt way more than falling on snow or a box. So just take the shots with your muscles.

basically any sporting goods store is gonna have the under-armour type sliding shorts youre talking about, they sell them for lax and baseball and shit i think, not really for football because the pants have pads in them, but im not totally sure...anyway theyre all over the place, i might get some cause they keep your tail bone kinda safe and the hip and leg pads are good for falling on rails

no.

Take your licks and move on. If you fall, you fall. Get over it. Padding will just get in the way. The only form of padding I wear is a helmet.

yah obviously too much is ridiculous...but aside from the obvious helmet you can pick up some of those sliding shorts with pads built in for pretty cheap, and they dont limit your movement any cause theyre made for full contact sports, they just help absorb some of the shock from the 100+ hits you take straight to your thighs and hips every season when youre trying to progress on rails and shit

I'm not talking about regular padded pants. I'm talking about D3O it's a new crazy substance that is being developed for action sports. Spyder has used it in their suits for a year or two and they military has also been using it. Look it up.

whoah that's pretty cool, it's like kevlar that protects you from baseball bats instead of bullets...bet it's not cheap yet though

The Spyder race suit is $999, but that is pretty top of the line. The beanie with it in it is like 60-70 I think, the gloves are more, like $150. Dunno about the other stuff.

the protect pads suck they are way to bulky. get a pair of head crash pant they're low profile and help a butload

wow dude i didnt no so many ppl are wearing hip pads, i made a joke to my friend the other day about getting a pair, but didnt think ppl actually had them

i wear armour top... my dads anal about me falling on rails and shit, i told him to take it and eat it. but he says i can ski without it. but whatever.

i eddited some shoulder pads to wear as a belt. (for padding) works fin so far. It kind of sucks though since because theyre so wide, my snow pants wont fit over them so what i did was I just bought a pair of 4xl pj's and cut of the legs so I have a pair of flanel shorts covering that i can wear over the pads and the snow pants.

Can't believe it hasn't been said yet. So I guess I have to. "I noticed your mom had pads on while she was on her knees blowing me the other night."

wait for it....

hate mail!!

Wrist guards, a helmet, and some Demon impacr shorts that were hella cheap. They mostly come in handy on the rails. I don't think upper body protection would do much for you.

That stuff is awesome. I've never worn pads before but earier this year I hit my kneecap on the corner of a square metal rail. it swole to like 3 times it normal size and my whole lower leg turned purple. It still super sensitive and spuishy like a month and a half later. I got the sessions base layer with the 3do on the knees in it and its pretty sweet- non restricting and lightweight... I haven't fallen on it yet so I guess thats the real test. not that i fall on my knees a lot anyway- i think that was the first time.

i just spent $325 on a dual shoudler brace to prevent any further doslocation and tendons from being torn

falling on cement would actually feel nice, especially if it had a high fly ash content

now if you fell on CONCRETE.........

I have a pair of the 1st gen Red Impact Shorts. They are fucking awesome. My pants were a little on the small side for me last year so it was a little bulky wearing them, and kind of a pain in the ass. With new, slightly bigger pants this year, the pads fit pretty much perfectly. The only time I really realize I'm wearing them is when I bail and think, "Hey, that didn't really hurt that much."
