i've had a my ipod with my whole library on it, but i had to install a new harddrive to my comp and i lost my old library. so i downloaded a new itunes but can i now transfer my new songs from this new library to my ipod?
you should be fine. as long as your ipod isn't synced to the library in the first place nothing should happen. Always do manual song selection. automatic is just too big of a hassle
