Hey yall, moving down to salida this summmer and will be skiing mostly monarch all winter probably,Anyone on here ski monarch? Whats the park, terrain like? Thanks much +k!

i ski monarch quite a bit..terrain is great open trees that you can cruise through at max speed, nothing too extreme, you can hit some pretty big cliffs in mirkwood tho but you also have cb another hour down the road where you can get as extreme as possible. as far as there park it was actually pretty sick this year, the terrain park guys were given complete control and put up whatever they wanted, there only jump was kinda sketch but pretty fun, but the rail section was sick and all the wood features are always a plus. overall monarch is one of the most fun mountains ive skied in co always getting dumped on.

sounds sweet, i skied summit county all winter so it will definently be a change. I've heard good things though i cant wait +k

I spent last summer in Gunnison. It's a Kickass area to spend the summer. Oh be joyful campground is the best free campground I have ever been too so far in Life. It's right outside of Crest Butte. Also go to Alpine loop in Lake city - Silverton area. You can hike three 14rs in a day if you want.

For skiing Cooper is only 70 miles away from Salida. A little closer than CB but another place on the list.

lol I live in leadville right now, if i was gonna drive to cooper id keep going to Copper mtn for sure haha.thanks for the advice, i spent a wee bit of time in Gunny last summer, your right its an awesome place for sure.

I have to agree with almost all of it. I usually ski summit county but i occasionally go to monarch with friends. The snow is awesome. It generally has a lot of snow every year and you can keep getting fresh tracks all day if you get to know the mountain. The big mountain skiing is sick. The park however is pretty mediocre. This is in reference to the parks ive seen in edits and in summit. The jumps are small and the rail lines can be sketchy.

However if you don't ski park, then you're gonna have a blast.

Anyone still live in Salida?

I'm moving there in two weeks and would love to split rent with someone. Moving for a job but the weekends will be DH biking.

I'm a low key roommate who doesn't mind a little slop but still reasonably clean. Down with any kind of housing just looking for under $400/month (after split).
