Anyone from new york?

so my friend and i were driving from Syracuse home after a weekend visiting a friend. my friend was feeling sick and a little uncomfortable driving cause she just had some cold meds and asprin.

at one point on the drive i was speeding, mostly cause i was being talegated the entire fucking way and was just getting pissed at this one douche flashing his brights, when i got pulled over and given a speeding ticket. no biggie. but oh wait, i'm a week away from my license ...does that mean i get my permit taken away along with another fine besides my permit? im not sure about the law in new york but thats def. how i thought it went in pa. anyone know? it doesn't say anything about that on my ticket

so wait, your not from new york but you got a ticket in NY. ok so your an out-of stater. so usually tickets from outside your own state dont really effect your insurance or anything but considering you only have a permit it could be different. in NY you can only drive with you permit with a legal guardian or someone over 21 i believe so that could screw shit up.

idkk if im right on all of this though

yea, NY pretty much has a no tolerance policy on screwing up behind the wheel when youre under 18. i dont know how it will work with you being out of state, but if they treat you like an NY resident, you could get fucked big time. doesnt sound too bad though, good luck with it

you my freind r completely fucked...im in a similar situation but not as worse cuase i have my junior and got a ticekt and that would normaluy be a 60 day license suspenion and 6 months more of junior license but since the judge was nice i got off of the ticket but...if u still have ur permit and driving alone and got pulled over ur soooo fucked its rediculous no offense lol u rob wotn be able to get ur license for a few years

i thought that if you had your permit and got pulled over, the person who has their lisence is the one who is supposed to get the ticket.

whats goin through my mind reading all those: fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

ok great, i just mailed my ticket in, fuck i'm hoping i can pay all of this off or w. ev without my mom finding out cause that would just blow. i don't even care about getting my license to be honst i'm gonna be going to college where i don't need a car, so i just need to be able to get it in the next 4 years. i just don't feel like paying a few hundred dollars right now or having to go to a court date in new york?

i'm from ny and i have a question, WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST MOVE TO THE RIGHT LANE. stupid bitch. if you cant take driving in ny, don't visit

About the out of state tickets, insurance definitely gets involved but what happens is that you do not lose any points on your license. NY is gay sometimes, for example if you get pulled over in either NY or even Ontario, CANADA! you can get points off your license, but anywhere else you do not get any points reduced.

BTW, KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT PASSING YOU CUNT

Try the trick of mailing your ticket in, but have 5 extra dollars on your check. Then when they send you the refund check, don't cash it. It screws up their books or something, so they can't give you the ticket. Something along those lines....
Never had personal experience, but I hear it works.

probably because there was no right lane, genius. and its not like driving in ny is any different than anywhere else.

people drive slower and more stupid out of ny.

If she was in Syracuse and she lived in PA, she was probably on I-81. You pretty much fucked yourself over, 81 staties are brutal. They'll pull you over for speeding 10 over.

thats easy to say when your not from ny and perhaps never drove through. drive on i 95 on the cross bronx section or even the new york state thru way on i 87 and tell me that everyone in the country drives the same. i personally can care less about switching lanes and speeding but the drive can be brutal around here. even as you go upstate, its still sometimes crazy. ok, genius?

every time i have driven in ny, there was never much chaos except around nyc. go to mass and not only will you find chaos, but bad drivers everywhere, but this is not the point of the thread.

haha ya. i think i get what you're saying. a ny driver will tailgate you so that you will speed up or slow down and pull over so that they can pass. a mass driver will tailgate you, then hit you at the next red light.

should have fought it. the worst that can happen if you plea not guilty is get all te tickets, but there is always the chance they will reduce it or whatever. A guilty plea=outmatic conviction

i heard this song and this line reminded me of this thread. you can sum up driving in new york, and well just new york in general. "the farther out new york, the more like molasses" (sp?)

this was probably pointless haha

update: waiting near my mail should get a response soon, there wasn't an amout written on my ticket so i wonder how much isnt gonna be

my mom said that the ticket was just for speeding not for driving without a license or with someone under 21? i guess the cop was nice? or maybe my mom is on crack? i guess we'll find out...

to be continued...

YOUR SO DUMB never plea guilty cause you can always lower it or the judge might have simpathy thats how i got off of my ticekt

why is everyone telling her that shes dumb? it isnt her fault that this is her first ticket. do you GUYS know so much about it because you get alot of tickets? shes just asking for advice, not your opinion...

when i was 16 and got a ticket, the troopers never noticed i wasn't supposed to be driving after 9 or with more then 2 people in the car. they probably weren't aware of the rule of the licensed driver needing to be over 21. either that or he made note of it and the judge will see it. new york doesn't give you the amount right away unless you checked guilty on the ticket. when you check not guilty, they send you the court notice in the mail. then you go to your date. then when they call your name (or get there a half hour before the time on the notice) you talk to the ADA (disticrt attorney for the town) and they plea it down. the cops no longer do it in new york. they plea EVERYBODYS DOWN but that means you have to pay the ticket. unless you think you were innocent, then you don't agree to the plea and you have a right to go to trial but thats a waste of time cause you'll have too pay the whole fine and not a bargain. just say you will go to a defensive driving course and you should be good. and wear a low cut shirt

thats the basic low down on traffic court in new york state. good luck

yeah true. rich people actually hire lawyers to represent them in traffic court. i think thats a little extreme. especially if their like from the city and it happened upstate or whatever or far away.

usually when people are flashing their lights you're supposed to get out of the passing lane and go back in the middle lane.

sort of like a leap frog ya know?

you're not supposed to drive in the left lane the whole entire time. if you go to court with the excuse that the guy behind you was tailgating which made you drive fast they will laugh at you.

I do. Always fight it chances are it will be reduced or dropped from some stupid resaon. Dont just sit backl and let the system rape you and add points and shit to your license try to do something about it

the point is she is a dumass for driving without a license for that long a distance and she pleaded guilty which automatically fucks u which u plea inocent and u have a HUGe chance of getting it lowered or something

uhh, it is her fault for speeding.

it is her fault for not yielding to traffic.

people need to stop trying to be the "first" in traffic (in this case, 'i wanna be in the front so you can't make me do anything') and allow faster people the right of way.

Keep right except to pass bitch, left lane hoggers are a disgrace to society.

signs should be made on 17 west saying exactly that so dumb bitches like the thread creator would get the fuck out of my way on the highway. no offense to her

im pretty sure you get finned in pa for driving without a liscens, my friend got a $300 fine for that but im not sure if it delays you from getting your liscens im just not sure what the fine is it may be different for everyone

ugh, the southern portion of 17 is horrible. But if you go north in the middle of bumfuck new york, it's so empty and nice.

im from syracuse, where were you driving I-90 or 81? and to whoever said you cant get points on your license just because it was out of state is a mush. If somebody was 20-30 mph over the speed limit it doesnt matter where you live

yeah word and there has been more troopers lately it seems like because i drive to woodbury commons for work and the cops are all over th fucking place. but to the guy who said he hates ny cops, i don't find many of them to be assholes at all. i got pulled over and searched while i was stoned out of my mind and he found like a .4 smooshed in some tin foil and he let me go off easy with no tickets or fines. i even took a physical sobriety field test because the car reeked like bud and he trusted me to drive off. he was a pretty respectable guy. keep in mind we hotboxed my car seriously 5 minutes before. cops are just doing their jobs. you do the crime, ya gotta do the time

are you kidding me?

yes it is her fault for getting the ticket....she was driving duh.

advice=opinion

Really? I speed a lot on 17 a bunch and cops don't really go on that road much. Funny thing is my first ticket I ever got was on 17 in Liberty, I got raped hardcore. :( But ever since that time (like late 2004 ish) cops have been nonexistent pretty much there.
