It would probably be more usefull to put the current New on NS menu bar underneath the Friends list on the left hand side. Move the Online list to the bottom, and run it horizontally across the screen.

You don't really need to see all the people online in such a prominent place, just your friends list. And if you need to see people, go the bottom and add them. It would take up a lot less room.

Yeah it might not work out that well, but the concept is that when you're at this part of the page you start to notice it.

Its going to display all the time when you're way down in a thread, which on NS happens all the time. Its a way to give a little more prominence to some of our frontpage stuff thats further down.
