Looking to upgrade my footy apparatus

So far I have a GoPro 8 and an older Nikon DSLR. For quality and convenience I would like to switch over to a mirrorless that excels in video. Anyone here have a set up they use currently and what they would recommend?

How much are you willing to spend? A used GH5 is probably one of the best 'budget' options for filming these days. I put budget in quotations since it's still likely $1500ish for a body and a couple lenses.

i use a lumix gx85. stock lens is a little restrictive, soon to be upgraded to telephoto. shoots pretty nice film but unfortunately not waterproof

Probably about $2000 all in is my limit. I'm currently looking into a Fuji film xt30 or xt3.

My friend just said he's selling his Sony 7aiii but that may be too much for me to spend.

How do you guys find filming with these?

If you don't care about 4k60 then the a6300 could be a good deal. Lots of lens options too and if you add a cage they can be pretty modular.

When filming do you use AF?

I use a Sony a6000 with the kit lens and an 18-270mm, along with 3 batteries it’s great and very compact.

Buy used, with discretion of course, but usually you'll get better deals. Lots of people on craigslist and ebay (maybe fb marketplace too) sell used camera gear they barely touched.

I use a GH5, rips pretty good. 4k60 is awesome but means you'll spend a lot more time behind a computer screen too. If your budget is $2000 you could get a used body and 2-3 pretty nice used lenses.
