Anyone ever take Acutane?

My dermatologist just prescribed me Acutane for acne and its a miracle drug apparently but has a horrible rep. Have any of you guys ever taken it? I know it causes birth defects but im a guy so thats not a problem but theres a high rate of depression and it makes you really sick if you drink. Has this happened to anyone its kinda freakin me outt.
 
I took it last winter, my acne wasnt too bad, I just wanted it to go away so I asked my dermatologist about it and it worked great. It really sucks while youre on it but its worth it in the end man, dont freak out too much about it. just pm me if you have specific questions, i know that shit sucks
 
i usually don't say this but i'd try the searchbar cause im pretty sure there have been some pretty big threads on acutane with lots of input from people who have used it
 
its not dangerous, just some congressmans pussy kid offed himself while on acutane so he made a big push about how it affects kids moods

it won't make you sick if you drink while taking acutane but it will fucking kill your liver, acutane is very hard on your system already and adding alcohol is not a good idea if you value your insides
 


my experience: I was 18 and went to the walk in clinic at my corner plaza and asked for Accutane. The doctor there had no problem giving me a prescription on the spot and i went and filled it out. You are supposed to have thorough bloodwork and testing done to make sure its right for you but alas my doctor didnt feel this was necessary. So i took it bla bla and it cured my acne. I coudnt drink for 4 months of my first year at college and my lips were chapped as hell 24/7. but yeah it worked

The problem i had was that Accutane is known for causing ULCERATIVE COLITIS - a disease that i had a flare of when i was 13 but had not seen since. I had no knowledge of the relationship between the 2 at the time. But the doctor - had he done the necessary testing - should have. And shouldnt have given it to me.

Now ive been in another flare of Ulcerative Colitis for the past 8 months and have pretty good reason to blame the Accutane. Believe me Colitis is not something you want to get, even if you have no history of it its still possible.

The last lawsuit against Accutane awarded the guy who got Colitis $27 million for suffering w.e

So in my opinion just suffer through it, dont touch your face and keep it moisturized. Some things are worse than others.
 
Im taking it right now and am having no problems. It is the merical drug. It will get rid of your acne. I took it once and then after the 6 months it came back in another 6 months. Im taking it agian and im pretty sure its gone for good. It will work. And save a moth or 2 of pills so u can take them later if needed.

Only problem is u need chapstick. And face lotion. Expecialy being a skier you (like i did in the winter) will have a big problem with dry face an lips.
 
I just started work in a pharmacy and we just had this whole training shit on it. Besides the horrible birth defects it can cause dementia(insanity), delusions, severe depression, thoughts of suicide, Rectal bleeding etc.
I would like to suggest getting a prescription for a tretinoin topical cream instead of the tretinoin pill (the drug in accutane)
also the training thing from corporate was 14 pages long. FML 5 more hours of cbt's next weekend
 
One of my friends is on it and he had to wear a facemask 24/7 while he was skiing cause apparently his face/lips would get burnt in minutes if he took it off
 
it dries you the fuck out. your lips are going to be peeling all the time, and i've heard of cases where people have digestive problems and irritable bowel syndrome.

but it absolutely will cure acne after about 4-6 months.
 
I was on it twice in high school.

It's great, all your acne will be gone and your skin will litterally be flawless

It sucks because when you're on it, your super dried out and your lips are always chapped. If you keep your face moisturized(cetaphil works the best) and a stick of burts bees on you, you'll be fine
