I dont think off the summmit, but I'm pretty sure more than one person has skied from points higher than like 25,000ft.

You were right...but yes you were.

'Mt. Everest, 7th of october 2000

It was a historical day for Slovenian. Davo Karnicar, of Jezersko, Slovenia, accomplished an uninterrupted ski descent from the top of the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest (8,848m).'

No ones done it from the summit, as that would be impossible. Summit is at least 1000 feet above anything close to skiable.

^ Right on. The last 1200 vertical feet are sheer ice cliffs.

Yuchiro Miura skied with a parachute from about 26,000' down the South Col of Mt. Everest in 1970 or so. He crashed a long ways, but you have to give the guy credit for pushing off from that height more than 30 years ago.

Miura was using leather boots, wooden skis with screw-in metal edges and turntable bindings with leather long thongs wrapped around his boots for extra 'control.' He was a pioneer of big mountain skiing and still skis over 100 days per year at his home mountain, Teine Highlands on the north island of Japan.

His dad, Kiezo Miura, celebrated his 100th birthday at Snowbird this past February by skiing down from mid-mountain. Kiezo made it down with three stops and no falls. His son, 71 year old Yuichiro, lead him down the hill in the flat light and about 4' of powder. It was amazing. The guy got down there with all those people and was just stoked!

By the way, Everest was skied from the Summit by Davo Karnicar in October of 2000. The guy is a Slovenian mountaineer and obviously knows what he's doing, but you have to question the sanity.

ya a guy and even a girl ahve skied down it

the women wasnt succesfull though

Slovenian Davo Karnicar Made history Oct.7 2003 completing the first ever Top-to-Bottom descent of Mt. Everest. It has been attempted before, but the closest anyone got was starting 300 ft below the summit. The guy is a real badass !

^ Just adding some more context to the above...

Everest was attempted seriously only twice before. Pierre Tardivel of France skied (Elan skis) in 1988 by the normal approach route from the South Peak, however, the biggest challenge - Hillary's Step - was not attempted. In 1996, Hans Kammerlander (Fischer skis) ascended via the north side, put the skis on on the summit, skied down the north side some 300m and, faced with the lack of snow, took the skis off, to descend on foot some 1000 vertical metres.

Davo Karnicar is an ex racer, Ive seen some pictures of his decent, ice and snow so horrible you can't imagine. It looks like knives pointing up from the snow. He must've been insanley fit.

karnicar wasn't the first, kammerlander (austrian) started also from the summit before him. (It could be possible, that he didn't even make the whole thing.) And he was the first, who was riding down the k2(second highest peak). And a snowboarder died a few years ago, try to ride the east wall.

but the main thing is the ability to hike up it, do u think he could make it? it would prolly take a few years of preperation. That would be sick. everyone see everest in the imax awhile back? that was a reallly sweet movie

I think they are starting a heli skiing company on everest since its new youll be able to name runs too

I Love Skier Chicks

yea i heard that, its so expensive but yea if youre the first to ski something, you get to name the run, sicck

nobody can do it from the very top

i pee on ur face but i dont care..

i take off ur little sisters underwear

shes only three so shes never seen a wee wee

so i told her it was a lollypop and the flavor was salty.

shoved in her mouth, it punctured through her cheek broke the glasses of that three year old geek.

r. kelly did the same but im not about to give him the blame cuz fucking littles girls is just my game

It is a matter of fact that it has been done ! as I said above Davo Karnicar was the first to complete a uninterrupted top-to-bottom descent. but it was in 2000 not 2003 my mistake.

i don't think, that anyone who is normal fit, can do the everest. With all this modern stuff. And of course, if you pay enough, some guides will put you on the summit. It takes enormous stuff to ski it, but climbing it with Oxygen is not the real problem. Everywhere are ropes, ladders and stuff for help the moneytourists up there. I think 99 % of the people, who stood on the summit of the Matterhorn (Switzerland) are better climbers than 95 % of the everést-climbers altogether. And yeah, there are some good runs. Harrison would do something crazy. Maybe not form the summit, but he would destroy it.

and, if you believe, that he did the whole thing, from the summit to the valley, youre pretty dumb. The pressure difference will kill you in 2 seconds, if you try to ski down more than 3000m in this heigth. summit to High biwak. thats it.

about 800 m i think.

mcconkeys original plan was to pull out his water skis on it

...RUN FOR COVER PRODUCTIONS...

im sure some guy did it on elans. and how would he run into trees up there...there is nothing

its def. not the longest run in the world. It would be 'only' about 2500 metres to the valley. For example the Nanga Parbat is more than 4000 metres higher than the valley.
