i think i might have done this....dont really know if i did but it hurts big time...i was doing backflips and whatnot off a diving board but it didnt hurt till hours later so i can only guess what caused it but i think it was from flipping....anyone ever do this and how long does it take to heal..

yeah i partially slipped one. i was in so much pain for 10 days and then i went to a chiropractor and she realigned my back and slipped it back it. most amazing feeling ever, i was intantly better.

how i slipped it, bombing steamboat in flat light. came over this hip jump styled area and landed straight into a huge unvisible mogul feild going mache speed. sucked up my knees but couldn't make it. tried to bail towards the side of the moguls, dove for it. over rotated my dive and took a mogul straight to my back, knocked me out, chinese downhilled (head of heels) about 10x. woke up gasbing for air. skied down to the car cuz i was in serious pain. smoked some bud and everytime i cough my back cracked (behind diaphram region). lasted like that for 10 days, solid. i had friend step on my back and it'd pop and feel so good. then when they'd get off it'd pop out. that sucked.

my mom has a few in her neck and she was pretty much non-functional for a few months and had to do a ton of physical therapy. definitely go to a doctor and get it checked out...and when i say doctor, i mean, a real one...not a chiropractor

I've never totally slipped one but from what I have herd you know if you did it. I aggravated one from swimming and that hurt like a bitch for a week or two.

I had a major rupture in right lower back, and a minor on left lower back. Sucked so much, my right lower back pinched my siatic nerve, which made it nearly impossible to walk for a month and I limped for about 4 months after. I couldnt sit down for more than five minutes and I couldnt stretch my hamstrings more than 30 degrees. SOOO painful!

Most slipped discs are a gradual injury, but you often feel it for the first time having a sudden fall, sneezing or doing a backflip.

Now I slipped mine last Febuary, this was because I was trainning hard for track and field and running 6 days a week with high mileage. My back gradually got worse from sitting in a chair and studying lots and I had super tight hamstring and never stretched them which caused irretation to my lower back. The doctors think my injury is from years of ignoring stretching and not listening to my body. The actual slip itself happened when I over shot a table in Whistler and landed on one ski backwards (thought it looked cool then.) But then the pain started.

I couldnt compete in running this last year because of it, I was able to ski though and I've done a ton of it this year. I'm just getting back into running now, and I still get pains if I have to sit for a long time.

Now how to fix it? STRETCH!!!! I do back bridges like 3-4 times a day to strech my back and I stretch my hamstring every day too.

Also tons of ab workouts help, your abs is what supports your back. Various forms of sit-ups and excersise ball workouts.

As for seeing a chiropractor, it wont help putting your disc back into place. You can't move a fluid sac. But they do help aligne your back and takes a away from the discomfort, I see mine every 2 weeks.

Hands down the worst injury I've had. I'd see a doctor if I were you and see how serious it is.

I'm assuming you're like myself too young to have this injury and normally theres another problem in your body that causes it.

hope that helps

i did that crap at the us open 05 and it fucked me up for so long but now i am a waaay better and more fearless skier than i was before. i figure, what are the odds of me doing something that dumb again.

the only thing that sucks is that i get really really bed back aches when i have to go pee for a long time... lol

my mom had two slipped disks in her lower back

she couldnt walk for weeks/months and it still bothers her a ton now even after it was 'fixed'

get that shit checked out immediately

so are you saying i would or wouldnt know right away when it happened, because i did probably about 20 backflips total and some bios and corks....sneeezing hurt worse before and sorta does now, but i cant lift much at all maybe 20 pounds

i mean hitting a jump that i've never hit before with a recent head injury and no speed.

aka, i won't try to do something that i'm not prepared for. i'm always prepared for injuries

my mom has slipped disks in her back too. I cant hug her to hard otherwise she starts yelling that im going to break her

aww shit. this doesnt look good for me...

the other day i was on the trampoline and i was fine took some hard falls trying cork 10s. a little later my back hurt sooo bad. its up like a little below the neck. my parents think its something like my muscles are tight, cause when i go golfing it helps for like a few hours and then goes back. i can barely run and have had soccer camp for 4 days now. it hurts to lift stuff with like one arm really really bad, 2 i can deal with...does anyone know if this is the same thing or what?

ya man i had that same exact shit happen to me last year. I doubt it is a slipped disk, but you probably pulled a muscle in your back. That can be incredibly painful, and it just has to heal on its own. Took me about a month.

no,

the disc is a fluid membrain between the bones. It doesnt actually "slip", but the fluid sacs which act as shocks for you spine pop.

It's very frequent with old people with degeneration.

you might have pulled a muscle or herniated a disc, the safest thing to do is visit the doc, your back is super important so you can't really just ignore it like a jammed thumb or toe.

my back has been getting better, i think it was just something muscular, if it gets worse or doesnt get better ill go to the doctor. thanks^
