we had some snowmobilers and they were riding around when the gromers were out and the dude got hit and choped up by the track they had haz mat team up there pickin up pecies

i got gorilla steeze on the race course
 
i think it was 2 or 3 people have died at whiteface in the past couple of years. a little girl hit a fence and another guy hit a tree.

Nope, but a guy almost did last year. Last year was scary, everytime we went to the mountain we met a ambulance on the road

 
at least one a year at mt creek. its because of all the people from the city who have no idea what the are doing.

 
We get a lot of popsicles pulled out of Avalanches. Most recent unfortunate story:

Hot shot freerider/ski instructer takes his sponsor and a few other guys out. Burrys the whole gang in an avalance. He's sponsor and 5 more is dead. He survived. But now has major lawsuits on his ass from familymembers of the dead folks. As an instructer he would have been insured, but he was leading the group in his free time. so no insurance for law suits and rescue costs.

A newb thought he could to the hardest run of the resort and ran into a tree in the bottom because he didn't learn how to turn.

About 1 a year near seattle some stupid guy usualy hucks of a huge cliff and dies a couple of years ago it was like 300'

Yah, one guy died this year at Gore, and one day I was there, 2 people got medi-vaced out, and another got heli-ed out.

Then that kid at Killington, the other at Jiminy Peak I think. It was a bad year for people dying actually.

No one died at my mtn. but that dude from Meathead productions died in the Notch which is our ''backcountry''.

I highly doubt it here but at Loon, a while ago two people died. They where on a wicked steep trail that wasn't open yet, it was pure ice at the time. One slipped down it, died. His friend went down to try and help him, slipped and also died.

God, I guess North Carolina is worse than a lot of these places. There have been more than 1 a year I think. Last year, some beginner went to the top and did a blue/black for his fist run in his life. He tried to straightline it and he went into a telephone pole. When I was skiing at the same place later that season, 2 people broke their necks whiel I was there and ambulnces were called.

Somewhat off topic, but while rock climbing, there were some little kids there(10 y/o) and there were 3+ foot wide crakcs int he rocks they were jumping over. A kid fell 80 feet and got wedged between 2 rocks. We could hear him screaming. They had to get a helicopter and fly him out of there. The kid was there for a birthday party and his parents weren't there.

i cant take him[liam downey] seriously cuz his name reminds me of that downy bear from back when i was a kid -d loc

Imagine the ns outcry if u(lateralis) were banned. There would be countless threads and petitions to bring u back, it would be like when treadway got banned from whistler. Someone would probably make and sell 'Free Lateralis' stickers and shit. -j
 
Lots or horrid stories from the mountains around here.

Here's a pretty disturbing one.

Not too long ago at my home mountain, a woman got lost and was skiing out of bounds. She gave up and they found her frozen in the snow. Some parts of her body were missing and scattered around because wolves ate her.

Sadly enough, she gave up on herself and the whole time was less than a 1/4 of a mile from the village.

at a mountain i go to alot this guy accidently went off this giant natural quarter pipe that you couldnt really see and came back down and broke his neck and died i believe

so many people get hurt at bristol and a few die. i think this year 3 people died. maybe 200 got injured enough to go wtih ambulances. i live 3min from the mountain and i live on the same road so all the ambulances go by constantly.

2 people died this year at Sunday River from what I know. I guess one of them it was either suicide or murder, he/someone else loosened up all his stuff and he just went straight down White Heat, hit a rock, and died pretty much instantly. Another guy drove off the side off of Jordan Bowl.

 
yeah i remember that one too. it kinda sucks though because of them now the resort is watched 24/7 which means we cant go after hours and hike it.

some guy skied right into a tree at the bottom of a blue slope and died a couple years ago.. you know those witch halloween decorations they have that u set up on tree trunks so that it looks like the ran into the tree? Thats what im THINKING it looked like

This season some snowboarder broke his neck and got seriously injured, and we've had several deaths from hitting trees.

ususlly like 2 per year at stratton. One kid on christmas eve. bombed a huge trail and hit a medium sized jump, he proceded to over shoot the landing by 30 feet and land on his neck. or thats what ive been told.

I think Sonny Bono died at Alpine Meadows..maybe Squaw though?

I think in 1982 (I don't really remember the date), a HUGE snowstorm hit the Tahoe region bringing some of the heaviest snowfall ever witnessed in the last century in Tahoe. I think it ended up snowing over 20 feet in a week or something..I don't remember details. Anyways..an avalanche ended up happening and killing a bunch of people. It totally destroyed one lodge, while somewhat ruining another. The lodge that got destroyed was COMPLETELY burried. The Main Lodge was almost just as burried.

Funny part of the story..the avalanche took a thermometer with it from one of the lifts and jammed it into a tree. There is now a thermometer stuck in one of the trees at the base of Alpine about 20-30 feet up the tree...its sort of funny to see.
