Anyone elses school promoting "gay day" tomorrow???

oh and let me just say...anyone who will go out of their way and make a concious effort to hate gay people is obviously covering up some insecurities they have.
 
yeah the gay straight alliance at my school is promoting the day of silence. i think it's bullshit. i'm all for gay rights. i have a gay friend and it doesn't bother me in the slightest, i don't feel there's anything wrong with that. but why do they have this? it's not like thousands of gays have died for gay rights, i actually can't think of a single gay dying for gay rights. i don't think discrimination on gays is a problem in our country at all. if gays are oppressed enough to have a day of silence, why don't blacks have a day of silence? i think blacks have been much more oppressed than gays. it just doesn't make sense to me that it's made into such a big deal.
 
hahaha funny story....on gay day last year this gay guy like flaming homo walks by just as my friend goes "theyre not real people!!" really loud, everyone know what he was tlakin about and the gay dude just glares at him and stomps away haha
 
ok i think that anyone who wants a day of silence should have a day of silence, so while i do believe gays have the right too, i think alot of other groups do too
 
sure they have the right to and i completely respect that, but i think there are other groups who deserve a such a drastic movement so much more. do we have a day of silence for veterans? no, we have a moment of silence once a year. it just seems so disproportional.

Ya the "Day of Silence" was pretty big at my school. I don't mean to be stereotypical, but we had a big Performing Arts Company (one of the best in the state) and like 75%+ of them were homosexual. So there was probably a good like 20% of my school that was gay and that lead to a lot of animosity among students. People would put up flyers for Day of Silence and people would tear them down and burn them and shit, eventually the Performing Arts kids started righting "You just committed a hate crime" underneath the signs for when people tore them down. Tons of kids also had shirts that said like, "What are YOU going to do to enjoy the silence?" against the Day of Silence and shit like that and everyone would try and get the kids being silent to talk. It was pretty bad sometimes.
 
I agree. I had a friend who was gay but was... like everyone else other than that. He didn't go around saying like omg I'm gay!, just as I don't go around to everyone saying like omg! i'm straight. It's the flaming ones that piss me off.
 
that is the biggest losd of bullshit ive ever heard of. id be screaming my head off all day just out of principal, even though i have nothing against gay people at all.

although, if they tried something like that at my old hs, im pretty sure some people would end up beaten/stabbed. its a christian old money school and everyone there was a whitebread old money homophobe. hehe now that ive left its pretty fun fucking with all those guys' minds
 
i only support this if we get a straight day. where all the gays have to not put products in their hair to show that they support straight people's rights.
 
ok i agree its annoying but how is it any different than the homophobs that go around makin anti gay remarks

my school did day of silence a couple weeks ago. about 10 of 1200 kids did it. and all of the kids that were gay didn't becasue they needed to "educate" people about the day of silence. so fucked up. i go in first period and i said hey no ones doing the day of silence. then my chemistry teacher said ok everyone talk if your doing the day of silence.
 
i dont hate gays or have anything against them. but i think this is bullshit, they want to be treated equally right? so why do they get a day dedicated to themselves. thats bull, until we get a "straight day" then fuck them.
 
I'm fine with protests of all sorts, more power to those who wanna be proud and subject to ridicule. I would just like to state that for your argument you should know that sodomy is illegal in quite a few states. Also these laws apply to homo and hetero relationships, so watch out boys when your with your estranged girlfriend and headed for the back door.
 
the only thing i dont get is why its a day of silence. i know its because theyre silenced or whatever. but if you really want to make a difference, standing up and saying what you think/informing people/inspiring people is the way to do it.

Not wear ratty armbands that say silence.
 
alright so it went down today without much incidents. i guess the school got rent a cops because at every end of every hall there was a cop standing there all day (so about 18 cops) there were like 2 fights but not really big so whatever its cool. a few people made t shirts and shit but nothing severe happened, but im not too sure they plan on participating in this again.
 
So if today is the day of silence...if two gay dudes are having butt sex...would they be silent the whole time? I would imagine it'd be pretty difficult.

i would never wear one of those bands, and it kinda makes me mad that gay people think they're all that, and need to have a day in their honor. how can they be expected to be treated like normal people when they dont want to act like it. from what i gather, by having this rally thing gay people are saying "because i want you to treat me normal, i will make my self stand out as different" if they are so concerned with being treated like everyone else, they shouldnt have scome out of the closet

But seriously, as long as they're not fucking on your front yard, what does it matter to you. "I hate you because of your PRIVATE life that doesn't concern me at all." I don't understand. Nobody is gay AT you. They're just gay, period. Get over your hate man. The gay community doesn't threaten the sanctity of marriage, it doesn't lower the general quality of life, it doesn't try and dictate what is right and wrong in other people's personal fucking business. Straight people are WAY more guilty of all of those. I'm straight, and have a girlfriend that I've been with for a long time, so don't go ignorantly calling me gay, but common lets grow up a little bit.
