I think schlopy was right about gus getting all the spotlight from coming out and not really sharing the wealth or even mentioning newschoolers, which iirc was where he first dropped his telluride edit years ago.

On a more serious note, I unfollowed Gus too, simply because the skiing content I'm interested in was not really there anymore, just like I did with a ton of other skiing accounts. But the amounts of threads on Gus and how he changed since he came out popping up on NS just shows how homophobic a bunch of y'all are.
If you don't like the content, just unfollow, why do you feel the need to hate on the guy? Who the fuck are you to judge him? No one gives a fuck about what you think, just worry about your own dick and stop worrying about other people's sexuality.
Sure, his social media presence and content shifted after he came out, he gained a lot of exposure, a ton of new followers, and he is capitalizing on that. Do I like the new content? No. Did I like the old content better? yes. But I still would have done the exact same thing he did.
I'm sure Gus knows he lost some "core skier" followers in the transition, but he gained a ton more from outside of that audience, and I'm sure it's working out financially way better than before for him, so good for him, he is doing the smart thing and if you're blaming him for that, then you're either homophobic or an idiot.

i'm usually pretty lighthearted on here but this stuff is kind of pathetic
dude is one of the best park skiers ever and he gets so much ankle biting from people on here. hasn't ever done anything bad or wrong, the dude is just living his life as he sees fit.
and he's smart to get some money while he can, he has been smashing his body to bits for relative pennies for years. at least twice i can think of that he was competing through injuries and now he does a pet food commercial and goes on tv and people have the nerve to call him a sellout
let's keep it simple
reasons i respect gus: dude is a top top shelf park skier and now is living his life well-- look through his wikipedia! olympic silver medal, countless other medals, acted on a major tv show, raises money for things, probably helped and inspired tons of gay young people, did one of the first triples on skis ever... and yes he does still ski, i happened to see him winning a dew tour stop this winter. i do wish he'd film though
