Anyone else hate nyjah fans

K i have this hate for the little shitstains that call themselves skaters but spend every morning worshipping the sellout that is nyjah houston while wearing nike sb. Like i dont think nyjahs a bad skater but hes not the best and is a complete sellout, and then his mindless followers who havent even learned ollies pray to both him and aaron kyro. Like im probably getting way too worked up over this but does anyone else feel this way

I'll take Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist or Rodney Mullen content any day over these new dudebros

Definitely get where you're coming from but I'd be lying if I said I didn't watch his videos and find his skating very entertaining. Not for the same reasons I like watching other skaters though

K thats understandable cuz its not like hes aaron kyro, his skating can actually be entertaining, its more him as a person that I hate. I pre much hate anyone who sells out

I know nothing about skating but sometimes ill randomly watch edits of Jaws. That dude is insane, its like watching a STEPT movie but skating.

yeah i dont enjoy their content like "core" skaters, but I have no hate for anyone finding a way to make a living off their favourite sport, provided they aren't assholes
 
I just feel like sellouts ruin the spirit of whatever. Like cultures a big part of skiing and skateboarding and sponsors obviously dont ruin it but when skaters who had potential join companies who never even associated themselves with skateboarding like nike, theyre throwing their dignity away. My favorite pros like Kevin Long and Daewonsong have stable incomes from their sponsors without selling out.

Nike never even remotely associated with skateboarding until recently, like every other big skate company has been dedicated to the sport but nike doesnt give a rats ass abt culture. Like i get the money thing but staying genuine is just part of what i value i guess

From a business standpoint Aaron Kyoto is a fucking genius. He cultivated his own cringy brand of skate content and was able to market it through YouTube and sell his merchandise. He tapped into a huge market that is vastly looked over by the skate industry: Beginners. He has a net worth of 2 million dollars.

Nah bro, he aint an og like andrew reynolds or tony hawk, lacks style, and might be the single most overrated skater out there. Like hes obviously good since he competes in SLS but hes not as good as the ogs

I mean he is pretty damn good...he has 19 Street league wins and is almost automatic in the streets. I get the style argument but you can't say he doesn't look clean

I'm not a nyjah dickrider. plenty of people I like more. Those other guys are sick too. Just sounds to me like your hating someone over their sponsor and making money. Sounds pretty ignorant to me

I know it came out a long time ago, but ever since I saw this I've had nothing but respect. Was never a fan, and still don't necessarily like him a lot, but I get annoyed at people who hate on him. His street video parts speak for themselves.

I mean you voiced an unpopular opinion and asked what others thought. You're getting answers. I don't hate nyjah fans, because I get why people like him. I prefer the "core" skaters more if you will as well, but no I don't hate him or his fans.

Well i wouldnt say hate and not all his fans are the same, theres plenty that are respectable but the ones that i dont exactly like are the ones who can hardly ollie, know 2 or 3 pros, and tell everyone they meet that they skate

Nyjah lost all his effortless style and fluidity when he grew up and his hips got to wide. Now his skating looks really strung too tight and like hes barely able to control his board and shit.

as a kid he had typically narrow kid hips and enough motivation to make him awesome.

ryan sheckler is even worse. Sheckler can barely even stand on a skateboard these days because he is do far past the athleticism he had as a youth.

I don’t like comp skating or skiing but you have to respect the guy for the fact he is able to live in a mansion and fuck models just by riding a skateboard.

His dad is a nut so you can’t blame him for being overly competitive from the start.

Also, nike has been in skateboarding since like 2002 and you could argue that they go back further than that. Sounds like you really just don't know what you're talking about.

There’s like 50 skaters Id rather personally watch skate, at least, but Nyjah is fucking good. Probably one of the gnarliest rail skaters on the planet.

I feel like he suffers from that phenomenon where he’s too good/clean/consistent and he makes everything look to easy to the point it seems less impressive.

He might be a dudebro douche, I have no idea really, but he’s a beast and he’s getting paid to the sky for doing tricks on a toy...that’s legit to me.

Is Tom Wallisch a sell out? He’s on Northface, Monster, GoPro, who knows what other corporate sponsors...his clothes fit...bout as mainstream as a park skier could be. I think most people here would say Tom deserves that shit given his influence and work/time.

Nike has been making samba like indoor soccer shoes for a while before they busted out the janoskis.

janoskis are such a poser shoe though. They look cool but i want full coverage up to my ankle. Janoskis are almost like boat shoes.

yeah chicks dig guys in boat shoes but if you want to skate your best you need a full blown skate shoe.

nike does make some good full coverage shoes but all the glory is going to janoskis.

Honestly i dont know what makes you think nyjah makes things look easy. He looks tense as fuck on all his shit. If you want clean style check out wes kremer or luan or shane oneill or louis lopez

they all look better than nyjah in his tights and fat boy gym shorts.

nyjah truly does not give a fuck though, which i do admire somewhat.

Janoskis are way too expensive but they are a great shoe.

Saying a good skate shoe should be a high top is not valid.High tops feel weird and restrict your ankles mobility but this is mostly personal preference.

I literally skate in vans slip ons most of the time. Might slip an insole in there if I’m feeling saucy.
