Anyone been to Sonora in the last few days?

i have not been there but i can promise there is no snow at all. it's pretty low, and with no significant snow since february, and the heat, there will be nothing.

Pretty sure there should still be snow up there.. I just called the caltrans report, the road is still closed... so.. yep.

Yooo we just were out there on a backcountry trip last weekend.
There is tons of snow! We launched the sleds from this point that for about a mile it was like half snow/ half dirt, but that wasnt bad. We got up there and there was jsut sooo many places to build and mess around. I would say we dug pits for blocks about 4 feet deep for our jump and there was no dirt to be found....
So if you have sleds i suggest going back there. Jut try not to poach our jumps ;)
Sorry for the shitty quality, they are stills from super compressed video...

haha they are moneyyy!!! i love my sleds, and it makes for a fun time besides just hitting the booter and filming!

and no problem for the update on that. Ha usually i dont show pictures outside of my updates and stuff, so its a special thing, haha.
and just try not to end up like Mike, first day he ate shit and cut up his face really bad (as you can see), and second day somehow his handle bars snapped off his sled...

Yeah... trouble is I live way too far from the snow, and I'd have no use for one during at least 350 days out of the entire year...

I wish I could just be given an honorary college degree from Oprah or something... Then move to Tahoe and get a radtastic ArcticCat Woot.

haha oh yeah for sure. I use mine all the time. I actually thing we are heading back down to sonora this weekend!!

i hope. maybe our other secret spot.

ha nah dude go with the Ski Doo Summit 800. The new ones. Its an 800 that only weight like 427 pounds or something like that. To put that in perspective mine rmk 900 wieghs about 565 dry and 640 with gas.

Thing is light as shit. Picking one up this off season actually. :).

That's what I just picked up, but mine is pre-Rev. '03 Summit 800. Still light as hell and kicks ass, but doesn't look like a stealth fighter and have a bunch of the extra goodies the brand new ones have. Trade off is I got a banger of a deal and didn't have to pay $12,000 for a new one.

Regardless, Summit is the way to go.

damn thats sick man. 03 rev 800 is still sick as hell!

i found the 08s in Oregon right now for 8500, so im trying to take advantage of that killer deal!

God it will be like a feather after rippin a rmk 900 for a year.

Yeah, a Summit is the way to go regardless! You'll be stoked.

I'm moving from Mammoth to SLC in the fall. Better place for a sled!

ehh idk bout that! The sierras are amazing!!! Sonora, ebbets, red lakes, blue lakes, iron mtn, castle peak, and other places i prolly dont knwo about (blackwood sucks).

but idk how good it is down around mammoth, and i dont know much about the sledding in Utah either.

Im moving to oregon too, heard its not bad there, but idaho and wyoming are close ot there, and montana, all sickkk places.

Blackwood doesnt suck, you havent been up to fourth of July chutes yet.... and everything I wanted to hit didnt have enough snow. Once you go to 4th of July your opinion of blackwood will change.

theres a couple cool features... not worth wasting a day though unless you have tons of shots on other stuff and are specifically looking for what is there, and you know there is enough snow.

Ha ill be down at sonora a ton next year. That and Blue Lakes are my new favorite places. You just have to know where to go there ;).

Has Tahoe been getting snow? I skied knee deep pow pretty much all weekend. Another foot of fresh for Monday. Good way to end the season.

that's crazy. didn't think anybody else even knew of that place. My friends and I used to do bc up there or session some road gaps. There's a few sweet spots for 'em.

man you guys just brought back bad memories. haha, I almost died from drowning years back up there. My friend and I went innertubing down the river on the pass. everything was peaceful, easy, no big deal.. Well after a few miles it turns into some gnarly rapids. At that point we were trying to get out. Getting out, I slipped on a rock and got thrown down the rapids head first. I ended up getting hurled off a waterfall and my foot stuck in between two rocks, 10 feet underwater and the waterfall beating down on top of me.

There was no way I could move or get out. By the sheer grace of God I broke free after about 50 seconds. But my fun didn't stop yet.. as soon as I surfaced for water I noticed that there was another drop.. Fortunate for me, hitting all the rocks with my head 'broke my fall'. hhaa

My friend's mom was waiting for us farther down the river.. She saw my innertube floating down by itself and freaked. She ran over to the military base on top of the pass and went crazy on all of them. As we were walking down the path to go fetch the innertube we had a military hummer roll up on us - complete with 10 or so army guys in it decked with heavy artillery.

They asked us 'Are you Daniel And Jarrett'.. I was like... DAMN! do I want to be?? haha. the next thing they said was hilarious..

'Come with us! You're mom is crazy!'

That's my story.

And back to the pass. My friend Caleb went skiing up there this last week. Said it was a blizzard, but sounds like there is still plenty of snow out there.

Thanks for the pics Dosmedia. those are sick!

damn thats a super sketch story, haha. I would have been scared shitless, haha.

Military guys were proly stoked to do something out of the ordinary.
no problem for the pics.

damn now i wanna go there tomorro!!!

and yes tahoe got snow last week/weekend. still a lot of it left to up high.
