Alright so im trying to figure out what camp i want to go to this summer and ive narrowed it down between two camps SMS and High North I really like both camps because it seems like they have great coaching programs and i really like how sms has a private trampoline and you have video review ever day. Im just a little concerned about there jumps. If you could answer any of these questions it would be great.

-In eaither park what would a line be like if you wanted to hit the most tech. rails and biggest hits.

-Could you hit the super pipe after doing a park run or do you have to do a special run just for pipe?

-How is the biggest hit at either camp?(how long of landing, has a lot of lip, real floaty)

-How about the amount of terrain at SMS from what ive seen it looks like they dont have much room and there hits are really small is this the case?

Any answers would be amazing

thanx

cant tell you a whole lot about sms, but high north is super sick, u can hit the rythm section and then get to the pipe, and the biggest hits are the 60 or so foot table, the quarter pipe, and the hip, its so awesome, ull love it, and about the trampoline, u can use the tramp at the water ramps at high north, and they do have video reveiw.

basically the glacier is divided into lanes. each camp rents one or more lanes and are restricted to keeping all of there stuff in there own lanes. the glacier is kind of cramped, but sms and high north have the largest lanes on the top portion of the glacier (sms actually has two, but probably the same combined size as HN). the two camps share the same pipe which is in a totally different place and you gotta pretty much hike it. high north probably has a bit better flow, it's a real tossup between the camps. I think you'd enjoy either one. and fyi sms is now known as momentum (www.momentumskicamps.com) hope that helps

well i went to high north so this is going to be somewhat of a biased opinion, BUT high north has full time BEats pumpin throught their park, they are the only camp on the glacier with a BBQ which is dope cause SMS jas these shitty packed lunches, and i liked their park better, SMS had a few more jumps that HN but HN's were much better maintained, always perfect take offs and landings...

i hit up sms last summer and it was really chill as hell, in one lane there was a c box that went to a table with two lips 50 and 60 feet, or off the box you could hit the rainbow into the down kink...off of the big table you ride right into the 1/4 pipe which is fairly large... from either option (rails or jumps) you can hit some practice pvc piped into an elevater 15 foot rail...the second lane had a 10 foot rail into a 25/35 foot tables into a 35/45 foot table...the half pipe was shared with high north on the other wall of the glacier...from both high north and sms, you could ski through whistlers public park which had a spine a jump and a couple of rails/boxed...and the 'bagged lunches' were just morning snack things...we had lunch prepared for us in a buffet at the mid mountain lodge

I worked on the glacier last summer, and picking between those two camps is a pretty hard decision. High north had some really cool inventive rails and defintely the biggest jumps on the glacier and sms seems to focus on bumps a bit more. Both camps are really good, high north you have Shane Szocs(sp) and SMS is Mike Douglas. Like I said hard decision, if it were me I'd pick High North though, better vibe with the beats and set up, they also have a MASSIVE quarter pipe.

i have gone to both and i like high north a lot better. better flow between features and harder rails. Also i think the coaches pushed you more at high north. At sms you leave to go eat lunch, while at high north you eat lunch on the glacier and get to keep skiing, hope that helps.

momentum (sms) is building an s-rollercoaster rail. sounds pretty burly.

I went to high north last summer and it was soooooo sick. The coaching staff there is amazing (Morrison, Auclair, Dumont, Olenick, Mercon, Tufflemeyer, Abma, Turpin, Scoz, Fujas and more) they also have a much better park with everything super well maintained. They have the rasta box which is sick and they have 3 small tables in a row, 2 medium tables(40ft.) and 1 big table (55-60ft) Then there is the huge hip and quarter pipe. GO TO HIGH NORTH

SMS almost always has more girls.

As for terrain, Happy Dayz shows the High North quarter and big table (Candide, Pep, and Tanner) with the SMS terrain in the background. Sara also does a crazy looking misty on the big SMS table.

SMS is sick. They have really good jumps from about 15-50 feet. And they continue to improve in the rail department. Plus they have Sarah Burke.

Thanks for all the info it helps a ton. It seems like High North has bigger and better terrian and is kept well maintained and very technical rails but SMS i get the idea that it is a little better run just lookin at there web page it it looks like they have a better coaching program with the private trampoline and video revie so at high north on there web page it says they do video review do you get to do this alot or only once or twice a week. I know on SMS site they say video review everyday and then they have a private tramp that you can bounce on from 7 to sleep and thats one of my big reasons for liking sms so just wonderin if High North does anything like that and hows the coaching there i know the guys who coach are sick and all and just rip but to be a good coach you really have to have know how to talk to people and how to coach?

thanks

exactly^ i mean dont choose one camp over another based on the lips of their jumps, and how well u pop off em, i mean their are more important things but regardless, whistler is so chill, and its a lot of fun, i went to the pubic park(yes it was bad, all hairy and no realy jumps) but it was so nice being with a lot of freeskiers, and talkin to folks so have fun, and i think im doin highnorth cause of all the shit i've heard
