im interested in UVM, and most likely gonna do a visit sooner or later. does anyone here do them? i'd rather be with an NS kid then some random dude

I don't think that you can coordinate a visit with another person.

My best advice is to go with your parents, pay attention and bring a notepad and take notes on what you like

LISTEN TO ME, AND LISTEN CAREFULLY
burlington is a sick town, and definitley the place to be for skiiers on the east coast. however, being from burlington, i do not reccommend UVM as a school. lets face it...at UVM, your one of over 10,000 students. that means huge classes, retardedly large dorms and you really dont get that personal touch of a smaller school. not to mention UVM is fucking strict when it comes to drinking/smoking/academic probation. Take a look at champlain college instead, its a medium size school, with a medium size campus that can be found right in the heart of burlington, closer to downtown and the lake than UVM is. not to mention smaller classes, backwards scheduling which puts you right into your major freshman year, and a lot of really nice facilities and staff. Champlain is much more personal and fun compared to UVM. UVM is pretty much its own city, while champlain definitley has the true burlington feel, not to mention there are sooo many less assholes in champlain than UVM

Yo it's true. UVM is not the "groovy" place it used to be. Too many 5-0 messin all the time. The kids are still pretty ill, especially in the snow/ski categories, but the times they are a'changing. It has been passed around campus that Champlain is what UVM used to be. But visit for yourself and check it out.

Sounds like UVM got a lot more strict... I just graduated in the spring, but when I lived in the dorms my freshman year we used to do beer bongs in the hallways and smoke in the lounge hahaha, a kid in my hall even used to get kegs in his room. But to the kid who said you have huge classes at UVM - it totally depends on your area of study - I did Recreation Management and we had tiny classes and all the kids were totally chill and either skied or snowboarded so it was a really good time.

whoa dude. calm down. not everyone wants a really small school so why not let him think about it. there is nothing "retarded" about the size of UVM. it is a midsized (actually fairly small compared to most other state schools) public school. champlain is a small private school. i can't really speak too much to most things at champlain but heres how it goes at UVM... only intro courses at UVM are huge. at then you have a TA. personally, i like having TAs. after intros most classes wont have more than 60 (some as small as 10-15) people in them. its not as big as it sounds. UVM is trying to get more strict with drinking/drugs/partying but will never succeed. even dozer can't do his job well and isn't allowed into dorms unless there has already been a drug related incident. in that case the time period is limited to something like a week. you can smoke/drink in your room as much as you please as long as you aren't a fucker. also, disciplinary probation doesn't really exist anymore. you just have a warning system. you should choose depending on what you want to major in. there are certainly things that UVM and champlain do respectively better. but for all extensive purposes, UVM is the better school. different sizes offer different opportunities.
