Looking to spend next summer in South America. I want to be near Valle Nevado so I can ski there along with the 2 resorts it interconnects with, La Parva and El Colorado. Also, I want to be doing some type of community service or educational program.
What will be my cheapest way to stay down there for about 2 months? I will be 17. Are there any exchange programs where I can stay with a family or other cheap areas?
Thanks.

i recommend going as late into the season as possible, therre will be more snow, this summer i was there form mid july to early august, and when i got there there wasnt much snow. And the word CHEAP does not exist up in the mountains of chile. For lodging i would recommend staying at one of the hostels, the rate is like 50$ a night, but if you stay longterm oyu can probably arrange for a much cheaper price, for food you have to do your gorceries in santiago as therer is only a small depanneur up in the mountains with 8$ cereals, on the weekends you can ea sily hitchhike down form the mountains to santiago. also there is no landry up in the mountains so prepare to not wash your clothes. and the pass is wicked expensive, good luck

that's pretty ridiculous considering Argentina's economy is way healthier than Chile's

but yah, i was going to do this last summer but i had to make a trade off and go to summer school. it was either go to south america and ski, or take two more classes so that i can graduate in a month and move to CO to ski waaaaay more.
maybe next year though, my dad is really into the idea of the argentinian winter and he wants to buy real estate down there, so he wants me to go scout it out. i think that'd be a total fucking blaaast.

Chilean ski resorts= same price as US ski resorts i.e. expensiveArgentine ski resorts = about 50% US ski resort prices muy barato

and argentinan girls are hotter than chileans... but chilean girls are easier, either place you'll be fine hahah

doubt it pretty much no chance of getting a job without speaking both languages unless u no someone or have a good conection
