I know im bringing back an old thread and whatever, but I'm wondering about it as well. Campus size, class size, biggest faculty etc. I want to go to university, but my parents want me to go to the east coast away from the Canadian Rockies and thats gay. I'm lookin at Bachelor of Science as a physics major. Any help or info would be appreciated.

I don't know much about the faculties, except that your degree says "UBC" not "UBC Okanagan" and thats wicked. It's way easier to get into and while the degrees offered are fewer, and Bsc. will still look like a UBC Vancouver Bsc. I digress...
The campus is fairly small, but the all still building (More rez buildings and likely faculty buildings in the future. They have a fair bit of land) The campus is laid out fairly well, its almost all brand spankin' new and is quite nice to be honest. Laid out on the edge of town in some rolling hills. One good thing if you are from out of town is the you could probably spit from you dorm window and hit the airport. Seriously its a 45 second drive in a cab or bus.
The problem with the campus is that it is a fair ways from downtown. If you didn't live on campus you wouldn't need a car, but you would want one. It would be a 20-30 minute bus ride (was there in July, can't remember exactly, was pretty hungover from Wakefest). Another thing is that sucks for going to the bars, but thems the breaks.
One good thing about the location is that it is closer to both Big White and Vernon (silver star, altough that is a fair hike) than being downtown Kelowna.
Kelowna also has retardedly hot girls. And so fucking many of them. A family friend's son just started 1st year there and is in rez. I ran into his parents (I know them better as this kid is 5 years younger than me and I know his older brother) and his Dad said that he was going nuts cause besides his roommate, the rest of the floor was girls. Apparently the ratio is like 70/30. That's reason enough to go there. Plus Kelowna is a fun town.
Sorry I don't know much more about the academics, but the admin staff there are quite helpful and pretty laid back. I'm sure you could give them a call (probably not best right around exam time or add/drop time) and they could give you tons of info and send you out some information packages.

Apparently their staff list is extremely thin. You might end up with a split between eager young professors with bright ideas that don't work out so well, and profs who just don't have a fucking clue what they're on about. But hey, it's cheap, and it's a new facility. Can't be too shabby.

i hear theyve built a lot more and its becoming a really nice university since this thread was last updated what have you guys heard about it? or what do you think about it if you go there?

going from Downtown kelowna, bigwhite is 45 mins in one direction, silverstar is an hour in the other direction.
Fabulous school for Sciences/Nursing/Engineering/Human Kinetics/Poli Sci - large prof pool for those specialties and great facilities. Classes are good sizes, not excessively large so you get to interact with your profs if you want to. Everything else I'd say is near shit.
EESC (BSc.) is wonderful, with a lot of opportunity for field work/real job training.
Top class Poli Sci Profs.
Most upper year courses in Arts are only available every second year on rotation, meaning if you miss/flunk a requirement you'll have to wait an extra year to finish your degree. The Fine Arts program for visual arts has very little funding, and resources are very limited - so don't go here if you want a BFA.
Definitely the absolute WORST Theatre program in Canada (lol if you can even call it a theatre program) with only three profs who are consistently on Sabbatical. Seriously a joke (the past three years anyone who entered the program left because of how bad it is - no new influx of permanent students since 2013). No funding either.
Extracurriculars are so-so, there's stuff to offer, but not that great.
Kelowna itself is beautiful, stunning in the summers - but can't do much if you don't have a car. Campus is a 20-30min drive from Downtown depending of Traffic.
