Anybody know about Whitefish

Thinkin about goin this winter to Whitefish Mtn, Montana. Obviously huge mountain with tons of pow

and looks to be a sick enough park. Im from the midwest so i dont

really know that much about it? Anybody have an opinion?

try regionals. pm a mod to get this moved. my old ski team coach was from there. that is all i know

my friend lived there last winter and loved it. it's a super small town, but my impression was that it was pretty cool by montana standards. the trip that i took to visit him, it snowed the day before i showed up and i was skiing knee deep freshies for the following four days straight. the only thing you've got to be prepared for is a lack of bluebird days. it was foggy as hell every day i was there and that's apparently the norm for most of the winter. but otherwise, such an incredibly fun place to ride.

oh, and if you move out there, stay long enough to go to 4th of july in hungry horse. that shit will blow your mind.

Big Mtn. Pwns great trees any day, and some pretty sick cliffs on pow days. and their park is OK ive skied better in the midwest but you wont wanna be in the park very much with all the awesome natural terrain. also when are you going because ill be there the 27th-the 2nd (ish).

our high school ski club went there for a week in 2008. the place is sick. i would highly recommend it.

if you catch it on a day with good snow, i guarantee you will not be dissapointed. If not, the park is usually fun, but nothing worth traveling super far for

BAM i live here. Fun little park, good slackcountry small lines and La Nina this year so it should be sick waking up to fresh snow everyday

definitely go there! Real mellow town, but the mountain is awesome. I went there for a week in february a few years ago, and it was only bluebird the first day, and then dumped snow the rest of the week.

its awesome in the winter and they get tons of snow but NEVER ever go there during the summer to bike, i just about killed my self when i seen they had 1 dh trail and i had just drove there from canada...

haha sorry that sucks that you drove from canada to ride runaway train. The resort sucks for biking, but there is some of the best biking in the state elsewhere around whitefish
for skiing, i've lived in whitefish for a long time and i haven't yet found a place i can have quite as much fun at

big mountain is a sick, fun place to ride on good days, and on bad days its not very bad either, cause they do have a little park

in addition to the park, when there is not new snow, you can find PLENTY of natty hits and shit to jump off aka inspiration and big ravine, plus pretty much any other run.

Foggy wise is it comparable to grand targhee also known as grand foggy. went there a couple years ago, awesome snow but waaaay too much fog

never been to grand targhee, but Big Mountain has often been called the Big Fog.. It's really hit or miss though. it can get really foggy there but it can also be real sunny.

Also, sometimes it looks like it's gonna be super foggy from town, but it's an inversion when you get up there, and then you're in for a real treat.

this happened one of the days i was there and it was so fucking epic. i've never seen anything quite like it

I live 5 mins away from whitefish. its pretty fucking sick, snows great and the parks decent. LOTS of fog though if you come later in the season you might get some sun

yeah dude, inversions are so sick.. also if the light is right, there is this shit that happens called the fata morgana. it's this reflection off the clouds or something that makes the mountains look like crazy plateaus and looks like this:
