I play without a string every once in awhile. Doing huge jumping sticks are sooo fun!

Remember to use your knees! This can sound weird at first but it keeps the ball from moving around making it easier to spike/catch. There are a lot of beginner tutorials to check out!

for an official one. you could get a knockoff for cheaper, but i wouldnt recommend it. Just save up a wee bit haha. the official ones will have the seal/sticker on the bottom of the handle.

Yo man! Glad you hopped on the dama train! Just try going from cup to cup. Then try spiking (bring the ball straight up and let it fall onto the spike of the handle aka the ken)Then you can try holding onto the ball and getting the ken into the whole, that is called an airplane!

Nice Dude! That's good! The 360 ball flip is called an "earth turn" The next thing to do is start working on some balancing tricks! Try a lighthouse: bring the ken straight up and balance it on top of the ball! Yeah it will seem hard, but make it land as smoothly as possible and continually follow it until it stops moving!

You can also try a "bird": bring the ball up to the ken (like you would a spike) but rest it on the top of the big cup while resting up against the side of the spike!

Wenatchee kendama team is dope man!!! Love what you guys are doing for the sport. Also to all the previous posts about people learning tricks and progressing, the key is just to be patient. Many people get too frustrated with it and just quit, you gotta just think of it as a fun game and you'll have a blast progressing and getting better

lol, so its now been two days, and i got down all around the world and can spike no problem. i have done about 5 airplanes

you gotta hold the ball and swing the ken up and spike it. I also have done 8 or so earth spins. those are my favorite so far.

There are not any websites just with all of the tricks to my knowledge, but my best advice would be to watch Kendama Joe's trick tips on youtube and also just start watching kids "Edit 1" and see what tricks they do and try learning from there!
