Does anyone know when the tour dates for 2009 will be released? I want a ticket soo bad. They sell out in like 20 minutes

to answer the title of your thread, yes, I am. one of the top 5 greatest bands of all time, regardless of whether you hate them or love them (or just bono like everyone else.) anyone who doesn't admit that is kidding themselves.

....sorry, just one of those things i'd be willing to argue forever..i've had the argument before if you can't tell.

and yeah, love to see em in concert, own a bunch of their concert DVDs and they put on a show to say the least.

word
so repetitive
plus i can't stand to even look at Bono
perhaps the biggest tool on the planet

But that's cool if you like them, they are very popular.

it's cool that you like them, but you can't tell me i should think U2 is in the top 5 bands of all time...

I mean, top 5 is like, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Davis/Adderly/Coltrane sextet (Kind of Blue), Bob Dylan, that kind of territory....You can't put U2 there, honestly. I mean, you can say they are part of your top 5 favorite bands, but they are in no way, shape, or form one of the top 5 greatest bands of all time.

alot of people dont like dem but they are incredible and i will always listen to dem regardles

their concerts must be redankulous

ughhh i hate them. i honestly want to put a gun to my head everytime i hear a song by them about like africa and stuff....shit wait...thats all i ever hear them sing about!

no but really. Coheed > U2 . look it up, true facts right there, i read about it....in a book.

no, see, thats the exact thing. it has nothing to do with whether or not i like them. absolutley 0%. Two of my top 5 i absolutley cannot stand, like can't even bear listening to even though i wholeheartedly respect them as bands and wouldn't dare insult myself, them, or anyone else by not putting them there. i won't say which because i don't want to get flamed.

but i'm telling you, they are. they just are. i can't have this argument because it makes me angry just talking about it. they are in every way, shape, and form, in the top 5. its just one of those things i'm sure about.

(yes i know this is opinion and no scientific method or criteria exists to prove mine but for the sake of argument just know i have already put this to bed and there is no convincing me otherwise.)

but i do respect those bands you listed, they are all fantastic. dylan is without question up there as the greatest SONGWRITER of all time, though, not band.

Honestly dude, on what grounds are you classifying them as unquestionably in the Top 5? You like them, fine, but it's blasphemous to put them anywhere near bands that actually belong in the top 5. Yes. Blasphemous. Some of these are debatable, but here is a list I came up with, and every one I think deserves more recognition as a talented rock group than U2.

Zeppelin, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Tool, The Who, Dispatch, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Clash, Sublime, Counting Crows, CCR, The Eagles, Derek and the Dominos,Steve Miller Band, Hootie and the Blowfish, Nirvana, Mars Volta, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Phish, Umphrey's McGee.

once again, nothing to do with me liking them. the grounds which i base my opinion off are very broad. i really cannot have this argument, i promised myself i wouldn't. i'm a very agreeable person and generally am not stubborn about many things, but this is just one of them.

all the bands you listed are FANTASTIC, but some of those are a total and complete joke and an insult to music to put them even in the upper echelon of "bands of all time", even like, top 20. really, i know its hard for you to see it another way, and you seem like a smart kid with awesome taste in music.

like i said before, i HATE 2 or 3 of the top 5 bands (my list) but the fact is they just are. i have the utmost respect for good music and it's effect on, well, everything and everybody. i'd be kidding myself if anything more gets said that you couldn't bait me into this argument, but please do not call my opinion blashemous because it's obvious you don't know anything about what U2 has done.

....i can almost hear you typing "U2" into wikipedia as we speak...what did i get myself into.

Haha alright, I mean I guess I can understand that. Well... I mean I don't understand it, but I can respect it.

And yeah, as I said some are debatable, but I still feel that all of them are more talented than U2, of course if you factor influence, appeal, versatility, etc. into the equation then it would definitely disqualify several of those bands.

Dream Theater, Primus, Van Halen...

i would like to score myself some of those tickets as well, but my luck with getting concert tickets as of late has been, well, non-existent.

haha nah i know what you mean dude, i just wanted to give u2 fans a hard time haha.

but claudio's voice is a gift. it is rare to find a male voice in rock that sounds like his. As for top 5's, it depends what you think makes a good band!!! personally think music that actually is deeper than just what they say. For instance coheed has a 5 album long story that has been going on while half the people that ever heard one song go "i think his voice is anoyingggg" and dont get one ounce of it. you could listen to every album for weeks and not be able to figure the story without knowing the first bit of info so you get the setting and characters and everything. once you find that out it opens another world. every line is part of the story.

example time:

chase it's you I want but if I can't have her

then why should I spend any more time in a world that's going to end pretty soon?

I need you now more than I ever did

I'll hand myself over for you

chase is a character. listining to the song by itself you might not catch it until you listen to it multiple times. to get technical its jessie's daughter. eitherway at this point she was captured and jessie's son trades himself for chase. then later in the song there are lyrics that suggest he pulls the pin on a grenade and as soon as chase leaves he kills himself allong with the officers who took chase.

but honestly though, there is so much more too it, especially the romances. just go buy an album, or check www.cobaltandcalcium.com for more on the story behind the albums

long live coheed!!!!! =D

seriously guys? convincing someone that ________ is the greatest band of all time is purely subjective. who cares if they dont like U2, what i want to know is when the tour dates come out
