aight im gona sound like a complete moran, but i was mounting my concepts the other day and striped two holes in the rear of the binding (pivot 10) (someone fucked with the torch on the screw gun and it just kept tuning the screw)asides from heli coiling them i was thinking of epoxing the holes and then just redrilling them or maybe just mountin the skis center cause i was thinking of doing that anyway, any ideas guys?

if you want to move them forward anyway then just move them a cm up from where they are now...when you drill the new holes make sure to use waterproof wood glue. it bonds best because of the wood in your ski. don't use apoxy cause it can just pop out cause it doesn't bond as well as wood glue.

I highly enjoy mounting skis with a jig. It makes things so much easier and you never overdrill or put a hole in the wrong spot. That said, I have done it on the fly too. Center-mounting a ski that is not a true twin WILL decrease its performance, the sidecut (s) are centered at the mounting point.

why would you even try to mount bindings without a jig? not really the smartest thing in the world, and for stripping out the holes you shoudl just use like a 3pt posi drive to tighten the screws down and you really don't need to worry about stripping them out, also remember to tap the holes also. and just in case you didn't know there is specific drill bits you use to mount bindings for certain skis. for a concept i believe its a 3.5x9

fuk that

nah of course i mounted them with the jig that wasnt the issue, when i was puttin the screws in someone at my shop fucked the torch on the gun and so they just kept on spining and stiped the holes,

yeah thats right, 3.5x9 is what you use for almost all skis, with some exceptions- but if you didnt want to move the bindings forward at all, keep your toepiece where it's at, then drill new holes for the heel either forward or back of the original holes (plug them up first), and keep the new holes somewhat close to the old ones (not too close though). once you mount the heel piece again, just adjust the piece back or forward, depending on whether or not you drilled in front or back, and you'll be good. if not, then just take both pieces out, plug the holes, and remount like a cm forward- good luck

no dude, the forward pressure will still be fine- think of rental bindings, the heel on that gets adjusted so many times, it doesnt matter where it gets adjusted to, what matters is whether or not the heel is coming in contact with the heel of the boot- so the forward pressure would still be alright. dont worry about it, you'll be fine. i've done this with a pair of skis before, and it works out really good.

yea you can safely move your heelpiece forward or back a bit without worrying about forward pressure or any of that crap, cause even if you were to say remount with a different boot with a slightly smaller or larger boot sole length the toe piece doesnt even move ususally, and besides the heel piece is adjustable.

fuk that

arn't you supposed to get a qualified professional to mount your skis with a jig???

you don't have to, if you know what you are doing, then go for it...but the tech can do it a bit better maybe...i dunno...

mounting bindings without a jig is just plain stupid...its difficult to do, and there is way too much room for error. just use a jig.
