Any reptile/amphibian pet owners here?

well, watch out for them lol. In case you want extra info on their breeding so you dont get hella toads :http://www.ehow.com/info_8754697_information-mating-firebellied-toads.html

I remember reading somewhere that they mate anytime from spring til late summer, just fyi.

I have a regular 5 gallon terrarium, got and ideas i could do with it?

I Didn't realize that iguanas, if male and properly cared for, can reach 72 inches and 20 pounds by age 7. Here's a picture of some dude with his iguana for size reference.

haha dude those names are fucking awesome!

My mother got one of these badboys in 1966, he was alive and kicking it until 2004 when he died. I loved him so much, he was free in our house, walking around all over scouting for the sun.

Would love to have an iguana, they are so majestic and badass

also this is funny

like, during the day when we werent at home he was in our kitchen chilling, on a floor that was very easily cleaned, so everyday we had to clean up poop in there when coming home from school. But then we put him in this little tub with lukewarm water where he subsequently pooped/peed, then we washed him off, put lotion on his shell and off he went.

He only pooped twice a day, so having shit or whatnot around the house was never ever an issue.

he was always sleeping in the corner of the kitchen where he had a collection of old rags/towels in which he made himself comfortable in, and his food was on a newspaper on the floor.

lol as Im typing this out it sounds as if my house was a complete shithole, but he really was a clean animal. Sort of like a dog when you think about it.

I used to have a pet painted turtle I named speedy when I was little that I caught up at the cabin. Unfortunately, my younger sister left him out in the yard and we lost him no joke.

I don't think anyone ever believed me when I said my pet turtle ran away.

Haha I had friends who that happened too... they had the enclosure in the back yard and it either forced it open or someone left it open and it skipped out under the fence never to be seen again.

Here is our bearded Dragon, Drako. My buddy gave him to my girlfriend and I about 7 months ago, and he's about a year and a half old. He is really awesome, I never really expected to love a lizard this much! But he is hilarious and has quite the personality.

He likes getting high... he'll climb as high as possible.

Drako likes running around in the sun and climbing on random objects or hiding under them....

Come at me bro!

And here's a nice overview of his current vivarium set up. His cave is on the left, made of some rocks stacked on a tile bottom. There is a seedling heater under the tile to keep him warm at night. We've got his UVB and heat lamps on a timer, so he is really easy to care for. We feed him veggies, greens, a bit of fruit, and superworms or crickets.

Yeah so Drako is pretty much baller status now, check out his new diggs...

My Grandpa built the wooden terrarium, which is about 2' x 2' x 4', or 120 gallons.

I built his cave, using high-density polystyrene insulation (stryofoam), covered with grout and a non toxic sealant.

^He's chillin is his new favorite place, on some sweet driftwood I found on the Columbia river

The wood walls are nice, easy to add stuff on them. We got him a reptile hammock (in corner) and then screwed on some pieces of driftwood from the outside.

Heres a view of the light set-up. Got a 24" Repti-Sun UVB light, and 2 double light fixtures. Each one has an infrared basking light and one has a moonlight, the other just a regular 60W bulb (which i dont really use)

IMG_0663_zpsc1c8ffbc.jpg

The basking lights are set on wire screens, and the UVB bulb is mounted into the lid of the terrarium, all set up on timers. The floor is ceramic tile, with a seedling heating pad under part of them. O and its got sliding plexiglass doors, which i pulled off to take the pictures.

But yeah he seems to love the bigger space and all the shit to climb on. I dint think he'd try climbing the fake plants on the walls, but he was up in them within the first 3 minutes of being in his new place.

What do you guys think of this new set-up?

My house had an Iguana. The thing fucking sucked. It was a free house roaming iguana, no enclosure and all it did was whip, bite, hiss and shit.

Here is a video of it.
