Any reptile/amphibian pet owners here?

I just think these are the best pets you can have, just curious to see if there are some other amphibian/reptile owners here?

Post pictures if you can!

I have three fire belly toads in a water/land enclosure, pretty proud of them to say the least

Damn, how big is his enclosure? And do chameleons need an accurate temperature or humidity? It's a pain in the ass for frogs haha

his enclosure was about 4 feet tall, 4 feet long and 2 feet deep. The kind of chameleon I had naturally live in the mountains of Yemen, so there pretty tough. I live in colorado so I could barely keep his enclosure at 20% humidity, and it was rarely above 75 degrees in there, it was probably at least 85 right under his light though.

i have a python...he's rad. i like to get drunk and throw live rats in his cage. average life span of a rat once in his cage is approximately 5 seconds. sometimes i'll open his cage and dangle a rat in by it's tail and my snake will snatch the rat right out of my hand.

ive had several types of tree frogs over the years all fun

about to get another terrarium any ideas????

I loved having dumpys because they are fucking huge and eat anything

I'm thinking about getting a snake, and I used to have a leopard gecko when I was younger, I love reptiles as pets, there so different from other pets

We had these in my 7th grade class. Started with 24 of them and only 4 survived to the end of the year - the big guys had a habit of eating the small guys. It was pretty sweet but crickets and fruit flies were forever escaping into the classroom.

When I was in 7th grade I transplanted about 90 Spring Peeper frog eggs into a pond near my house. I had about a 75% success rate in raising them to a little before adulthood, then I released them to a location near my cottage that has had a severe decline in Sping Peeper population. There are now about 5 times what I released, so I feel good about it.

hell ya i got 2 fire belly toads. when i first got my second, smaller toad, the bigger one would chase it around and rape it, constantly. lol has that ever happened to you?

had some fire bellied toads when i was in college. fun to look at, but buying crickets is a pain in the ass.

I got a couple african dwarf frogs. Its pretty cool to space out and watch them swim around and they have sexy time almost every day

I have this friend that has 2 caimans, 3 or 4 snakes, 2 fish tanks, and 5 or 6 lizards. It's ridiculous, but they are so cool

Mine haven't stopped screwing since I got them

Just yesterday I witnessed Deltrese rape Tyrone, and suddenly Young D steps in and starts humping Deltrese even though she was kicking Young D in the head, so he started biting Tyrone's head. These are some fucked up toads.

I just bought about a 100 meal worms, put them in a container, waited for them to turn into beetles, separated some 10 beetles in another container and waited for them to make more worms, then I feed the frogs beetles or meal worms depending on how many beetles I have. It's an endless cycle of free food.

^^ yeah I know some people that breed crickets, because sometimes the stores sell out or simply don't restock them for sale for weeks.

question:

my apartment gets exposed to neighbors second hand smoke,,

can I even build a terrarium, because in the past my treefrogs geckos toads etc all freak the fuck out when they get exposed to certain stresses.

I'm no vet, but if the terrarium would come into contact with cigarette smoke frequently I would personally not go for it. Maybe ask the guys in the pet store?Isn't there any place where it can be instead?

bro, you know theres gonna be a lot of smoke from your dro. Don't even play it as the neighbors being the bad guys lmao

And op, my bigger toad used to do all the humping, which is weird considering the females are the larger ones, normally. Think its a dominance thing?

I know that any smoke fucks with even house plants....

Yo but anyways how pissed do you think other tenants would be with some dumpy frogs croaking fucking rainforest hard + the crickets chirping

even in a 3000sqft house the jungle sounds would be too much from the dumpys

also op, I noticed your water was deep enough for breeding... might wanna watch out less you want a shit ton of those fuckers laying around.

p.s. how did you set up your tank? ive always wanted something dope like it but ive settled for just plain coconut fiber bedding for the pas 3 1/2 years, honestly im surprised my toads havent died yet.

I have a 60 gallon tank with 5 poison dart frogs in it right now (phyllobates vittatus). I'm trying to sell it to help offset the cost of a new aquarium, though.

I have cinderblocks under the moss in the back, then I actually found two glass plates that i put next to the cinderblocks, put more cinderblocks up to the glass so they get really stuck there, then I just poured gravel over everything, put the branches and the moss and the plant in position and poured water into it. Most important part of it is that the water level doesn't reach the height of the dirt under the moss and the plant, so it doesn't get soggy because there's some water escaping through the glass plates.

Just make sure to really isolate soil from water

Same thing here, I think it's dominance but the guy in the store said that fire bellies just fight like cats and dogs and try to breed as much as possible, even with nothing but males in the enclosure haha

And yeah I've thought about the breeding thing but nothing has happened for 3 months, i think they eat their own eggs so idno. If I get a bunch of new toads I'll just give it to the pet store haha

Damn, really want a pet iguana or something like that, they seem like the dopest pets ever. How much have you fools forked out to get a decent sized terrarium??

I had a Yemen chameleon as well. He was pretty awesome. Also had an enclosure that I built. 4' x 3' x 2', so plenty of room. And I'd have him walk around in the sun outside too. I almost want to get another one once I move to a bigger place.

His name was Bolan.

He liked crickets, worms, and strawberries.

If people are looking into getting one, give them plenty of room as an enclosure, no glass, and they need moving water, like a fountain waterfall or something. Fun creatures to have though.
