Any Other Part-Time Carvers?

Fed up with the non-existent park at any local hill, and sick of sessioning the same 10 foot box for the thousandth time I decided to pick up a pair of Dynastar Ski-Cross'. Some gnarly fast carving skis.

The last couple of days have actually been a good time...they're fast as shit, and you can actually TURN on ice, instead of sketching around on rail dulled edges.

Anybody else have a pair of racing/carving skis as a second/third ski?

Any other ideas for preseason? The local hills frown upon crafting jumps, and I've already been threatened to get my pass clipped for sneaking into the snow park and hitting half built jumps.

I snowboard, but I don't have the patience to master it, and I'm not fond of looking like a nub.

^ for the guy with the Anthems, next time there's a demo day (ski companies come to my hill often, I'll assume it's the same elsewhere) try out a pair. Don't get fed up after a run, but try them for a good hour. If you're a half decent skier, you should be hooked.

Park skiing is still #1, but with my wrecked ankle and the non existent snow fall, I might get my money's worth from my Dynastars.

I've taken a few runs on my dad's Volkl AC40s and it's definitely different after riding around on AR6s. It's fun though.

yeah my rossi world cup GS skis are sick. soooo quick and so responsive. actually when i say responsive you cant just turn them like normal skis....theyre too stiff for that. you really have to commit to a turn and pump the outside leg to flex it.
i use those skis for skiercross racing and i have some pretty good results with them so far

yep, got some old fischer rc4 WC skis, you can ride them super hard as long as you keep em on an edge, super fun ski, but not good for relaxed skiing :)

Dynastar 183cm GS skis with a turning radius of 21m are a BLAST to go and rip ice on.

I also tried free heeling it up last night and i must say. I think im hooked.

free the heel and the mind will follow!

Avila really sucks that bad?

I thought it had a pretty decent park....im confused...something happen to their parks in the past few years or something?

Not hating carving. Just saw your home mtn is Avila...and i always thought highly of avila for the east coast parks...

^ I've got a new home mountain, but last time I was at Avila they were still blowing snow. I think they've got a couple features open now, I'll probably be there this weekend.

i actually just joined my schools ski team and its awesome. my home mountain has no park so going fast is better than wasting my time in a shitty park

my older cousing wanted to try out my chronics. he normaly skis on some ac50s and we have the same bsl and so we switched. those things rips. i could actually feel them overpowering me. cool story, i know right

i still race skicross

race/carve skis are so fun. i ski with an older guy thats a stockli rep, and i always ski a demo pair when im on the mountain with him.

yezzir, i was about to buy a longer pair of the same ski from a member on here, but then i had to pay another $250 to the USSA/FIS

I don't know how down I am with the skin suits.

I think I'd only do a race switch, in a G-suit.

In reality, I tried some gates the other day. Not as easy as it looks. I got smoked by a 15 year old race team chick. Such a mind trip. I can't figure it out. Blue means one side, red means the other, but when they put two together it always fucks me over.

i dunno.. i love hauling ass. and playing human slalom. i used to race.. i had some nice blizzards but they got run over.. i have a pair of salomon crosmax 10s at 193... i have them tuned to the t right now.. i tell you what... i have not found the speed limit on those skis.. i mean they keep going and going.....

i take at least 3 epic cruze and carving runs to get warmed up before i head to the park.. it makes your legs stronger and makes sure you rembere how to ski right. and not staggers your skis.

but that might just be me.

the other day.. i was drunk and hit up a course. and some asshole had stuck the gate upsides down with the plastic helix thingy sticking up. and i i nailed it with my knee.. i got dropped and my knee swelled up pretty good.
