Any NS peeps serious about golf?

I just got back into golf recently after about 8 years off. Many of my old clubs are still good, I just need a new driver. Is there any that you guys can recommend for me? Price range is under 300 dollars, and if there's one that control slice more than others that's be nice

Yeah, I never got good enough to shape the shot very well. I prefer the forgiveness of a cavity back. i was a golf salesmen in high school and a nice used pair of the mizunos came through so i figured id give em a shot. they were great when i was on my game but i wasn't on my game as much as i would like. I havent hit any other blades to compare them to but everyone i have talked to who has had mizunos top tier clubs has loved them. im trying to think of the exact set i had but i cant remember...they were probably the 2005-2006 model. at this point im just happy if i can get on the course. only played once this year. not too happy about that.

I'd say get something with a stiffer shaft, since they tend to provide the most control/accuracy.

But go to Dick's or another big golf store near you and ask the guys there. They'll help you out and you'll leave with a well-suited driver.

Gonna be playing D3 college golf this fall, have titleist 910 D3 driver, taylormade RBZ 3 wood and 3 hybrid, mizuno MP-58 irons, a mizuno 52 degree wedge, a taylormade 58 degree wedge and an old odyssey tour putter.Used to be a 2.9 handicap before I was diagnosed with stress fractures in my L4 and L5 vertebrae, and had to take 6 months off, but my game is back to where It was.

All the golfers here, please make sure your core is strong that way you won't fuck up my back like I did. It really sucks to have to not play sports for 6+ months and the pain doesn't go away even when you're healed.

dont know my handicap. clubs are crummy old hand me downs. shot a 90 yesterday. not really "serious" about it, but enjoy the hell out of it.

HC is about 15.

Best 9= 35 on a 36

Best 18= 82 I think.

As you can see, I am not very consistent.

i play to a 10 and try to get out three times a week or so at least. once you start breaking 90 or 95, thats when it gets really fun and you get bit by the bug.

Love golfing and shredding!!!! I live in Salt lake and it is the sickest for golfing and skiing. Like 10 public courses, open since like march too. I use taylormade burner+ irons and Ping 5 wood and driver. Handicap is like 5-10 for 18. Don't keep an official one though. Shot my first even round of 9 here at Mount Hood this summer, super stoked!!

exactly.

not trying to hate, but there are so many people here obviously lieing about handicaps and scores.

i know everyone uses 100 as the benchmark between golfer and noob, but do you fully comprehend how hard it is to break 100?

think about it, if youre playing bogey golf, which is decent golf, bogey on every hole, your score is going to come in at 90-91, obviously depending on your courses par rating but im going with the average 72-73 par. blow up one hole, sink a couple in the pond and boom, youre at 100.

i consider myself a ok golfer, i can hit the ball, ive played once a week for atleast the last 10 years during summer, and i am absolutely extactic to break 90.

ive worked at numourous private courses in highschool and would love to know where all these 3 handicapper's come from, cause 9-10 people i see out on the course's are fuckin shit, or in the exact same boat as me, consistently between 90-100.

well said.

I hit a 91 the other night and was beyond stoked. 44 on the front 9, 47 on the back. I'd broken 100 before a couple of times, but it was my first really good game (If I didn't go 6, 4, 6 on the last three I would have been sub 90).

I have the bug for sure.

Maybe I'll go out and try to play 18 right now!

haha well i just shot 74 to qualify for an ajga... biggest golf tour in america, tiger, phil, webb simpson, hunter mahan all played it. super excited

obviously there is exceptions, congratulations.

i was just trying to highly the point that there is ALOTTTTTT more shit golfers than good ones.

and that people lie like a cheap fuckin rug about their scores.

also, since all the cool kids are doing it.

when i compare my lengths with other people's it always seems weird to me. i guess i just don't strike my long irons as well as i should be. like, our lengths match up on 4-5 iron but i hit farther on shorter irons and i consistently hit my driver 300-315 yet you say you only hit it 265. idk man

dont ever compare your lengths to others. how far you hit YOUR clubs is how far you hit YOUR clubs.

for example, i hit my 7 iron almost as far as i hit my 5 iron. 7 is just money for me.

and my buddy who consistently outdrives me by 50 yards +, ill shatter him with a 3 wood.

we always compare clubs, but its more for information to choose our own correct club, not match eachother.

Im a shorter kid, 5'6", so i have just begun to fit into the length of men's clubs, because i am so short, i have to hold the driver and fairways really deep to compensate, which is why i needed adjustability to counteract the natural draw the clubs will give me at address. that being said, because i have to hold those clubs so deep, i limits my range of motion. I was just in Golf Galaxy in the simulator, and with a 44 1/2 inch vr pro driver, i have a 102 mph clubhead spped. because the D2 with custom shafts and all is so long, it is not physically possible for me to have a semi-controlled swing while trying to move the club so fast. if i ever decide to cut the shafts down, im sure each club will go up 25-30 yards, easily. Hope that explains it.

I really want to go golfing. My dad's house over looks a golf course I like to watch people golf with binoculars from the window. I feel very confident that I would do well at golf now.

i say hey go for it. its fun to golf with girls every now an then, until one hits you with their ball off of a drive....then, not so much

You should see my happy gilmour swing. Haven't golfed since 2010 though. I ate a hit of l that day too.

Drove 300+ yards and was just over the green on the first hole. No bullshit. Witnesses were there. And I can replicate that shit.

I've got skills. Need a new driver though. I can pull it off with my other driver but I broke my main driver on hole 7 because I was starting to feel fucked up and i hit the ground a little and the club head went a good 50 feet. Shit sucked.

cool story hansel
