Any NS friends who surf?

it really isn't that bad... just be quick and confident and don't over catalyse your resin.

here's one I made earlier

5"10 x 21 fish

bit bulky in volume to be fair, but it is really good fun in fast small waves up to about 6' then it tends to skid out as I glassed the keels on parallel for that trad fish feel.

she still gets a lot of use, any questions don't hesitate to ask

I'm liking the look of that board. Just like my go-to board. Threads for non-mobile. It looks sick! I've always wanted to make/shape my own!!

this from Nazare again the other day (yesterday maybe) McNamara again

I will post about buying supplies etc tomorrow - just about to go to bed

BUT here's two good resources;

http://www2.swaylocks.com/forum/general-discussion

Also, before you do anything else - read this. It is the dummy's guide to what features of a board do what etc. Think about how you surf while you read it and it will tell you what rail shape, bottom contours etc work for you;

Surfed once in costa rica! Had a blast and now wanna go back for a surfing only trip. We had a 2 hours crash course and it was fun, we only rode soft-tops longboard! But I had fun!

Shaped this last summer, 5'7" 18.5" 2.75" ish, not sure on the thickness. I basically made an overinflated shortboard, used a super flat tail rocker and did glass on MR template twin fins. 606023.jpeg

It's pretty good, but I think the one I'm working on will be better:

It's 5'4"x20.5x 2 3/8", or close, I just foiled till it looked good. Compared to the other board, it's shorter, wider, has more tail rocker and a flatter nose rocker into a heavy flip to avoid burying the wide nose on takeoff, EPS instead of PU. I gave it a diamond tail, futures boxes for the twin and trailer, and a teal pigment with painted black stripes color job. But I didn't use enough pigment on the bottom, won't make that mistake on the top. I'm probably gonna add some teal to the bottom hotcoat.

Making boards is fun.

Also epoxy is nice for learning, cause it doesn't kick then get stuck wherever it is like poly does. I just did the striped one with a faster hardener, but in 68* temps, and I had all the time I needed. I've never done a poly board though, so I don't know how exaggerated the hardening phase is. The trick is to get all the epoxy out of the bucket, so working time will be much longer than it sitting in the bucket and heating itself up. I left a few ounces in the bucket when doing the first one in like 85 degree temps and the bucket melted...
