I think that people are afriad to make a ski game because they think not enough kids are into but if they made a good ski game that was like as good as a snowboard game kids would buy it reagardless of what the sport was.

It really sucks, from what psywar has told me over the net, it sounds like this time they were doing it right and the game was going to be what it should have been first time round. tough luck i guess

 
yeah, i agree no matter what sport it is people will play it. i really like amped for xbox and games like tony hawk for ps2, have those graphics and controls would be sick. word

I think that the game should be made by me. The idea would be a quest to earn a full segment in a movie by going in comps, creating tricks and picking up sponsors. You would start with like 2 tricks being shown in the end credits to a 5 trick segment to being taken on a fully paid for trip in some remote location filming the sickest segment ever, to holding your own event. Practice would be held at a summer camp of your choice, you would have to pay for it with your earnings from comps but you would improve your style or learn a new trick. You could be any of the pros in the latest movies, design your own ads, your own skis and you could design your own skier, their preferences(Urban, park, pipe, Big mountain)you choose their clothes, where you ski, when you ski. The comps you go in.

If it was up to me thats the way the next skiing game would be.

Just to let you know, I've e-mailed 3DO asking for reasons for the 'indefinite postponing' and they've politely ignored me.

dont go to 3do. go to a better company like ea sports. ssx is fucking sick and imagine if it were a skiing game. go to someone like them

 
neversoft/activision (makers of thps)-the president said like 6-8 months ago in a list of the top 5 extreme sports he would want to make into games...one was skiing he was like we dont hav the capacity to do it now but when some1 comes out w/ one (3do?) we'll make one and blow them out of the water

I think they should make it so there's a bunch of sick skiers like seth.m cr, jon olson, tanner, candide, the phils, and a bunch of other skiers and have it soo that some arn't very good at bc and somthat are good and have it so u can get sponcered difrent compains that offer diffrent benifits and be in diffrent comps, that would be sweet, and also make it so u have to go realy big to do certain tricks, not u can do mistys on flat ground, and u should start with the farly basic tricks like misty 5's, rodeo5's, spins, flips and few tricks in the pipe, and as u go father into the game your skier will progress...

As sad as it is, there are some kids out there that train for games like Tony Hawk (I saw an article on it).

They practice around 8 hours a day so that they may compete in huge world-wide tournaments.

Why not put that time towards actually skating?

As much as I like games.. go ski!

 
haha, if u skateboarded for 8 hours aday for a mounth u would get soo good kickly and if u did it for a couple years you would be a pro easy...

i think he means plays the game tony hawk 8 hrs a day, not skateboards 8hrs a day. man it be sweet if they made that like that guy suggested w/ the money from sponsors/ comps and shit. that would be a great game. plus they should have a park maker so you could build the most coolest parks ever. and then a bunch of real mts parks that you could ski at. i'd buy it

Fun activision, did you see how gay shawn palmer turned out, the game was gay. It should be made by ESPN. Their snoboarding games are fucking awesome and increbly realistic.

yea, espn makes realalistic games, but i think EA sports would be a good one to put out a ski game, since its such a huge game company, more people would buy it that didn't ski sinse it was made by them , maybe. that would be a way around poor sales.

i like happywhenhard's ideas, except the skills should be less broad, like pop, speed, grabs, rails and shit like that

i know tanner real well and all summer they were working on a jmmt2, i dont know when it will be released though if ever

 
ya, pswar was a programmer for the game that came on this site for input and stuff. The game was going to be kick ass and a big improvment from the first but they ended up cutting the game. It sucks cause a lot of people would have bought it.

hmm, so they were working on a jmmt2 and were making a lot of progress when all of a sudden they decided to just scrap the whole thing??? sounds like a big waste of time and money, and it doesn't make much sense economically. very suspicious...

i think activision should make a skiing game with the same contrils as thps, that would be the sickest thing ever. why dont we all email them and tell them that we want to have a skking game? i bet if they get enough requests, they will see that it would be popular and they might make it.

 
I hope some game company, preferable a good one, comes out with a great skiing game for xbox. i dont own it, but a great skiing game would push me to make the purchase.

they should use like a cross between tony hawk and jmmt controls, like set the L1, L2, R1, and R2 buttons for your grabs and grab combos, the D-pad would have your flips, like

up-frontflip

down-backflip

up/right-misty

up/left-overflip?

left-lincoln

right-underflip

down/right-rodeo

down/left-flair

or flips could be different for different riders, and you can set the tricks like tony hawk

The left analog would have your spins

up-bio, and tuck while on gound

down-sit down ride position, flat spin

up/right-mctwist in pipe

up/left-cork

left-spin left

right-spin right

down/right-d-spin

down/left-corked spin

the amount of time and pressure you hold the pad or stick would control the amount of flip or rotation

I think there would be a good chance ESPN would make one since Skiing is an X-Games mainstay now and it would just fit in with promotions

As far as I know, 3DO has many developement teams, working on different projects. I guess the marketing department decided that a skiing game was hopeless after seeing JMMTs sales, so they cancelled it and put the JMMT team to work on something else.
