i wanna get into long boarding but i know squat about it. is there a cult? what kind of board is good? Anybody have a good used one? that kind of shizz. thanks

I ride a landyatchz, but rayne makes really nice boards. I tend to stick with bear trucks and then wheels are all preference

^ silverfish is a good resource.. What kind of riding are you trying to do? Are you just trying to cruise around neighborhood/campus or will you be doing some downhilling as well?

I rock a loaded dervish and love it. I had a kracked skull, but i broke that after three months, and decided to upgrade to the dervish.

both boards were/are fun, but i personally like the feel of the dervish. it feels so much more stable than the kracked skull ever did.

I have a bustin. I recently moved the back trucks up and now use two soft cone bushings. it turns so sharp, i can u-turn in such a small amount of space. it's fun for pedstrain slalom too.

you didn't really upgrade when you got the dervish, You payed tons of money for a decant board and a TON of advertising. I also don't believe that you broke your kracked skulls, What trucks/wheels did you have on it and whats on he dervish now. I'm still riding my first board, a shitty moose drop deck with randal 180s and orangatang durians and I wish I got a kracked skulls. If you like the loaded style boards check out BC longboards, they make some sick boards with 100% customizable graphics, Kellen is sold on one.

im just gonna be cruizing around. and i only have like 100$ to spend so ill problly get a used one off clist.

yeah i hate to say it but youre probably lookin for sector 9 then.. I ride a Rayne and absolutely love it (so does everyone I ride with) but its hard to find rarer better boards for sale used, there will be a ton of sector 9s out there for sale used

A friend of mine on here is a great longboarder. Goes to Maryhill festival of speed every year. great guy for any tiips/questions.

sector nine is starting to make some solid decks... dont fuel the hate!

i've raced on an old s9 bombhills (retail version of their team race 42) that i cut myself, and it has done the trick perfectly. no need to buy rayne or lyachtz until you get serious

Thanks for the head-sup about BC longboards. I was looking for a new board and was pretty much sold on the tan tien. Decided to wait because of winter and it's a good thing I did because now I'm pretty much sold on the Moray!

Gravity and sector9 and BC longboards are all good started boards for pretty cheap except BC are a little more expensive

Minis are fucking awesome for riding through school and streets and stuff. I just bought a landyachtz dingy and it's dope

im not saying they make BAD stuff, but you cant say they are one of the higher quality companies on the market. They do make some pretty good decks and thats why i recommended them, but they are very overplayed. Sector 9 is the Burton of longboarding

ITT: Everyone thinks their board is the best one on the market.
That said, I got a cheap Gravity for my first board and still have it. I like that it's long and stiff, so I can bomb hills and keep up with the guys on dh boards, but i can still carve up a storm. Also, it has a nose and tail which is nice for messing around with manuals and stuff
It's this board, but with gumball wheels and different graffics:

Next up;Rayne Killswitch drop thoughBear grizzley trucks; 183, alot of people hate on bear trucks but they are great at higher speeds. I'm a HUGE fan of the new design they have out. These are 2 year's ago models powdercoated blue and white. (90a barrel on top, 73a venom elim on bottem)Otang 4prez, coned out!

Now this;Custom Forty2 (built for me)Randal 180; flipped hanger both sides. (95a red kihro top, 90a jimz on bottem)otang 4prez.Cusom foot stop. I'm a huge fan of the Euro tuck so thats what i do. It helps alot! This board has helped me podium twice at Maryhill and once at Bonelli

I made a sick shlong board out of my old alien workshop deck. Its fucking sick for highspeed. Cant make the sharpest turns but old skate decks have sick flex and the low rise of the shlong makes it crazy stable.

pretty sure snapping the nose off the board broke it... but thats just me. I had the Randalls on it a some gumballs.

Don't get me wrong, the board was fun to play around on, but I had a good job over summer, and I dropped the extra cash on a dervish.

I did look into the BC eel, but they were sold out at the time, and I didn't feel like waiting around for a board. they did look sick, and I would've gotten one.

make your own longboards kids! it saves you a shit ton of money and you can personalize it to make it perfect for yourself

check out landyachtz dude. In my opinion they have the best set ups. PLUS!!!! they just came out with their new 2011 lin up. go check them out!

this too. i'm going to build a deck like that surf one and get some exotic veneers to put on top and bottom so it looks good then do crushed glass or treadtex grip so it's clear.
