Any good Skiing Stories?

I've heard of some awesome adventures people have on skies. But what better place to ask then on Newschoolers. So, if you have a day worth remembering, tell me, or a really good trick you finally accomplished, tell me, ....

My bad, **skis**, but whatever, could have been in the skies while they ski. I know i've taken major air.

Well. Here is one of mine. I was skiing the Couloir Extreme (also known as the Sudan Couloir) on Blackcomb Mountain, BC. I was 9 years old and this was one of the steepest runs I had done yet, about 55 degrees. It was an icy day in mid february and on the top of the run there were some big moguls on the steepest part. I was making one my first turns on those moguls when my downhill ski popped off with no apparent reason. I tumbled down the slope for a little then started to slide and fast. I specifically remember being on my stomach going face first down and i was trying to use my fingers to dig in the snow. I still had one of my skis on which is why i was face first, the ski was grabbing at the snow. Anyways, I eventually made it onto my back while sliding still and my jacket pushed up to the underside of my chin and while I was on my back I dug my elbows into the snow. That slowed me down so abruptly that my legs flipped over me and I landed on my feet after that pirouette. On one ski I managed to slow down and stop. Needless to say I was in a state of shock and my stomach and back were seriously scratched by the snow. It's a good thing I stopped then too because i wasn't far from going overtop of old icy avalanche debris. I ended up sliding/tumbling down a nearly 600 meter run.

hahahaha fucking owned.

seriously though, I'm sure some people have some crazy stories about skying and sky resorts. I know there are few things nicer to me than than spending time on my skies....

Whatever. I make a few spelling mistakes, who cares. People on this site seem to have fun doing nothing but ripping on a misplaced letter here and there. Look over my story, find me a bunch of mistakes.

really fucking weird shit always happens when we go on family trips.

the weirdest thing was one time my sister was walking down the hallway of the hotel after skiing, she was only 11 at the time, and all of a sudden a naked couple ran out into the hallway, the guy falling on her. she was scarred for life. also one time some old guy flashed his dick at my mom, and a drunk dude stole my hat and tried to throw me off the lift.

Thank you da_funk for being the first one to give a decent reply. HE got karma. I wish the rest would STFU about any spelling mistake. It's not what this thread was about. I Don't want to hear how "Whatever." isn't a complete sentence or how I made a mistake by having 2 additional letters here and there. I'm 16, I can spell way better than most adults and I don't care to proofread so get over it.

dude dont get all worked up over this kind of thing. you just gotta get used to it :P youre only feeding them to tease you more

i have a similar story though.

Last winter during spring break god took an epic dump on whistler and

the snowbase doubled in a week. It was my first taste of deep powder.

At the top of sapphire bowl i did a kick turn and for no apparent

reason my ski popped off and slid over a nice 20 foot cliff. I hiked

down the sketchy entrance to look for my ski and it completely

disappeared in the pow. After and hour and a half I was ready to give

up searching but literally 2 minutes before i was going to give up i

miraculously found it. Was such a good feeling to have found that

ski.

Last year at Stevens pass (about mid season), my friends and I spotted what looked like a sick ass jump. I was the first to hit it so i bombed it only to realize that it was a 10 foot high boulder sticking out of the snow. Unfortunately I only realized this at the last second and didn't get time to slow down. My skis hit the boulder, I had a double blow out of my skis and instantly launched over the boulder doing a quadruple frontflip with no skis on. Honestly that was the fastest i have ever spun in my life. To hit that boulder with such velocity and immediately stop was porbably the scariest yet most fun moment of my life. Luckily, it was a powder day so i just quad fronted into some deep fucking powder. Only wish my friends were filming.

No one wants your fucking karma. Go ahead, rate me 0/10. I don't give a fuck. All I want to do is relentlessly make fun of you for saying "skies" instead of "skis".

didnt you learn anything from the stevens pass safety video, your suppose to check out a jump before you hit it, duh

This one time; I was with my friend, named Talon Manning, and he was an amateur ski buff and we were in Utah so we tried to do a aerial maneuver we saw on TV once. Turns out it was harder than it looks an Talon got his ankle broke. True story, shit was crazy.

Once i went to the x games in aspen and when I was driving home it snowed 4 feet in jackson hole, so I hiked the pass for two weeks straight and got the best skiing of my life in. It was like sluffalanching all around me everyrun then it snowed like 8 inches everynight after I got there so the tracks were fresh. We basically sstayed there till we couldnt stand sleeping in the subaru anymore. It was pimp.
