Any golfers in here- need help on driver swing

double post, but you're thinking of it in the wrong way. "pause" is just the only word i can think of that describes the move at the top, its basically a pause. not a stop, but a smooth transition. you can't just go from backswing to downswing, that's rushing your swing and will make it extremely hard to repeat your swing mechanics over and over; you'll always have a different point at the top from which you start your downswing.

your hands get to the top of their arc before the clubhead finishes its arc, and pause jusssssstttt slightly as the wrists get the final degrees of hinge in (this varies as does anything in golf, it depends on how much you hinge your wrists as you swing back). as the clubhead finally comes around, your hands start down towards the ball creating lag and shaft flex, and this is where a ton of distance and power is created.

torque and power are wound up in the mid-section and hips, but will do nothing for you if your wrists don't hinge and you rush your hands down from the top.

pro-slo's:

Ernie hinges his wrists as he swings back a little more-so than most people, but pauses nonetheless

Also, if you have any, ANY swing problems, just compare your swing to this one right here. its sickening how amazing Rory's swing is.
