Any Experience With A Traffic Lawyer???

So I recently just got a speeding ticket, A 57 mph in a 40 mph, though its where the highway ends, then goes straight to 40. I deferred a Failure to yield ticket about 11 months ago, so just under a year!!! I see online there are lots of Traffic Lawyer you can get for $250-$300 to take up your case.Is there anyone on NS who's had any experience with a traffic lawyer and what was the outcome???

My goal is NOT have the ticket(s) show up on my record for my insurance company! Is there any way to have this happen? I cannot really afford to pay insurance since Im a 18 year old male driver. Help Please

Why is everyone always trying to avoid paying the consequences for traffic violations that they did, in fact, commit? Just man up, pay it and deal with the consequences! That's what I've done for all 3 of my speeding tickets, the only time I've ever contested a ticket was a parking ticket when I was actually legally parked (it was dropped). Take responsibility for your actions.
 
I just got a ticket in WA last night. Driving 80 in a 60 on my way to University of Idaho from Spokane. haha. Just go for deferred prosecution, that is if you haven't gotten a ticket before. What county?
 
Ok, so the ticket was $195!!! Its in King County. I actually was going to Seattle Central and just got off the 509 so you go from a highway from 60 to 40, he clocked me in when we just got off the highway, I was also just going with the flow of traffic. Whats more ghetto is my Subaru's speedometer shakes and goes between 10 mph so I can't tell exactly how fast I'm going. Now Im a student with a part time job struggling by. The ticket is easy to pay for, its my insurance Im worried about. I would be paying nearly $200 a month and over $1000 more a year if I get it, let alone gas. I really just can't have it on my record, I would even pay $500 for the ticket if it didn't go on my record.

lol if you think its 300 all of my friends dad are lawyers no itll come out to more like a 1,000 and is not worth it unless you get a dui all they want is your money they'll say somthing like a 1g retainer which is a down payment but then they'll keep all of it with fee's just pay the ticket
 
I have some information that Im not sure if it helps but... I got the ticket just off when I-509 ends, so you go from a 60 to a 40 and he seemed to catch me right as I got onto the street, not to mention I was going with the flow of traffic so I was shocked when I got pulled over. In the process of pulling over, the traffic was very heavy at this time in Seattle. When the lights came on, I was in the left hand lane in a 2 lane road, so I had my blinker on trying to get in the right hand lane to pull over, being so heavy with traffic yielding to switch lanes, I couldn't, also I was clogging up the left lane pretty bad trying to do so. So I pulled into the center turn lane to turn left into a lot which to me seemed safer. The cop did not like this, when yielding to turn left, he got out of his car to talk to me in the center turn lane while traffic is zooming by us at 40mph from both sides. We had a really quick talk and left because the situation was so dangerous. I did not like this because I felt it was extremely dangerous having my car stopped there and I had 3 other people in my car. He also proceeded to tell me why I didn't pull off to the right side, though it was near impossible! I didn't say anything because the cop and I barely spoke because of the situation. Does this change anything?
 
what planet do you live on where you think this ticket will just go away you car insurance will see it and it will go up its the law there not magic.
 
You have a bunch of friends whose dads are all traffic lawyers? How in the supercalifragicoincidence does that happen.
 
usually if you just show up to court they will knock it down to a lesser charge...possibly something that isn't a moving violation so the insurance company wouldn't jack up your premium. also, i think in most states there is a built in "forgiveness" law. i'm pretty sure where i grew up there was a way to have a moving violation changed to something called "unsafe driving" which doesn't carry any points but is a huge fine...something like $400. i think you can only do this like once every 5 years or something but it works out to be way cheaper than hiring a lawyer or paying the increase in your insurance premium. don't know if they have this by you but it might be worth looking into. but definitely try to avoid lawyers...they are all scumbags. when you sit down for your "free consultation" or whatever he will be your best fucking friend and promise you over and over that he is gonna take care of everything because he knows the judge really well. bs...you end up spending a ton of money for no reason. unless you are facing a serious charge like dui or something it isn't worth hiring a traffic lawyer.
 
+K Thanks a lot for your input. The traffic lawyers I've checked out has just a flat payment of usually close to $300, you pay that and thats it. The look at the evidence and then go to court for you and they call you back on how it went. Now I already deferred a ticket 11 months ago, I was so dam close to a year!!!!! I'll look more in the law, any information helps, thanks guys. This ticket is really screwing with me, its hard enough to pay school, bills, and only working as a waiter
 
both my parents went to law school, but only practice now to help settle things like these for friends and such. there's no doubt if it's not bad they can get it reduced or even completely thrown out but my parents i'm pretty sure usually do this stuff for friends and family and don't charge much if at all so i'm not sure how much it would be.
 
Hey oh got it about a mile away from my house! Anyways, you might be able to talk your way out of it in court. Also look for any small mistakes on the ticket. If they spell your name wrong or a little bit of it is smeared so it can't be read, it will generally get thrown out
 
my friend has had 3 speeding tickets all taken care of with a lawyer that have had no effect on his record. he just got another one and is using the same lawyer. i would definatly get a lawyer if i were you.
 
Ya I was thinking that too, the ticket is nearly impossible to read! You can tell he wrote all of it in under a minute, probably because where we were at was super sketchy and dangerous. Thanks man, you grow up in a amazing neighborhood haha
 
So you are under the mistaken impression that all lawyers cost roughly the same amount of money and have exactly the same business practices. Mkay.

holy shit bro i talked to one of them for a ticket i had and asked about gotten one what i was told is most will charge a retainer and say thats just for the first pree tril which will usually be set but if it has to go to a trial it will be covered under the retainer, but being lawyers they will most likely keep all of it from fee's and no they work for law firms in nyc and they cost about 10,000 for a retainer. so no i dont think they all cost the same i was saying what happened to me in breckenridge
 
no worries dude...just do your research and make an educated decision. i'm sure it will work out fine. but definitely don't hire a lawyer. maybe talk to a few and try to get some free legal advice out of them but unfortunately it isn't as simple as "hire a lawyer and problem goes away." usually just ends up costing you a ton of money for a less than perfect outcome.

i'm sure that if you have a pretty good driving record and you go to court and give the judge a sob story about how your a student and broke he will probably be pretty cool. just don't make any attempt to plead your case (i.e. talking about how your speedometer is fucked up). judges hear that shit every fucking day and not once has a speeding ticket been thrown out due to a faulty gauge.
 
Hahaha, yeah, I'm reading up a lot about the laws and everything, just educating myself before I make a decision. Defiantly not gonna say my speedometer is messed up too haha, its just because I already deferred a ticket 11 months ago, Im scared on what the out come could be. If charged, I have to pay for 2 tickets and my insurance is gonna go insane! Not to mention I drive super normal, it was just a speed trap. Im never racing around in my 97' impreza...
 
i went to court for 110 in a 55 when i was 17, i knew it was retarded to do and didnt make excuses, acted like i deserved punishment but would be happy for less punishment, and i only had to take a 'drive right' program.

does this help, no, but maybe its a /claim then i dunno. good luck though.

also, the end of the month is the worst time to speed, cops are trying to fill ticket quotas and will pull over anyone for anything. paraphrased from my now-brother-in-law, ex-state trooper. legit.
 
That's a pretty bullshit ticket. I'd go, admit fault to the judge, apologize for your actions but tell him you can't afford the ticket OR the surcharge it would give you and beg him to just let you pay your fine and points in the form of community service. 9/10 times they'll just let you go, as they're used to being bullshitted by excuse-making douchebags and are usually stoked to hear somebody say something different. I've gotten off that way at least 4 times. Good luck my good man!

 
Depends on the county sometimes. I know in FL some counties are shit and always uphold tickets. Then there's other counties that just dont give a shit. I have fought 3 tickets and had all of them removed. I never personally met my lawyer. I called http://www.theticketclinic.com/ and sent them the proper paperwork via e-mail. They told me the probability that it they could get it removed. Each time I went through with it and they would just send me a letter saying it was removed.

With you're situation it sounds like they could fight it and you can easily get it removed. Those speelimit changes are tarps. I hate when they have a 65 goes straight to a 45 and all the sudden blue lights behind you and you're fucked.

i payed 300 bucks and got my ticket to go away, i live in snoho county.

normally this is how things should work with a traffic lawyer...find one from around your area (biggest help). talk to them and see how much they charge (usually 3-500). they will normally talk to the judge and get your case thrown out without you even stepping foot in the courtroom. especially for a basic speeding ticket like you received...
 
do you? what part of that was wrong in regard to traffic court? sure 10,000 is an asinine amount for a traffic case retainer, but that really has nothing to do with the proceedings of traffic court.
 
Thanks, I talked to a friends dad's lawyer, and he recommend a lawyer for it too. I actually found a lawyer that did it for $250 total! I keep it updated and see how it goes. Wish me luck NS

They moved the court date back, but its on June 28th so mark your calendars! I will tell everyone how it went whether good or bad, so far they have been great.
 
Finally got back and here is how it went. I payed $250 for a lawyer to take up my case and all I did was give them a bit of information and I waited for almost 3 months.

I got an email back and they were able to move the charge to a inattention infraction which was amazing! He said they were not able to drop my charge due that I had quite a bit of evidence on me. He told me most of there cases get dropped entirely but my case was a bit harder, but I didn't mind the outcome at all. This worked out great because I had deferred a ticket less than a year ago and not only would i would have had to pay for both tickets which would have costed me $390 total, I had to pay the inattention infraction which costed $138.

The way I looked at it I could have payed for the ticket(s) for $390 + a insane insurance increase!!! Over $1000 every 6 months...

or...

I payed a lawyer $250 + $138 fine = $388. Not on my record which was my biggest concern.

My overall experience was great, the only bad thing I could say is they didn't follow up with me much which made me worry sometimes, but they did there job and I am very very grateful! Being a student with a job paying for everything including car insurance, gas, rent, whatever, this made a big difference.

Got a ticket for 85 in a 55 going over the narrows bridge. Fucker came out of no where. Anyways got some lawyer named Barbra Bowden in lakewood. Basically just had to pay her 300 dollars, Didn't even have to show up to court, and they called me when my ticket was dismissed.
