Any creationists here ?

religion is retarded

I believe in God. Maybe if we taught the truth in school people wouldn't be so stupid. IF you look around you it's pretty obvious that this all didn't happen by chance. IF you take all the piece to make a watch and drop them millions of times they will never form the watch. Pieces don't just magically fall together to create life. In a way it takes a lot less faith to believe the bible, and it sure makes a lot more sense.

Being an atheist is cool these days, so I'm not surprised to see hate from a bunch of 12 year olds that aren't comfortable with themselves yet.

Im not religious but generalizations like that are truely retarded. And im not certain enough that there is not a god to go around calling what they do retarded.

no, i think the term creationists has been replaced with the concept of intelligent design. its pretty much saying that, although i don't think it took 7 days to create the earth, the earth as we know it today, may have had a helping hand.

a concept that i believe in to some degree. if anyone has read a short history of nearly everything, the book says that for our evolution to have gotten us to this point and you compared the odds to this, it can be equated to getting straight lucky seven's across the board on a 50+ rolling dial on a slot machine.

something that i believe that was not totally left up to chance

I agree to an extent but I still believe the 7 days.

Why couldn't god have created it in 7 days? I go by whats written in the good book

Have you ever read a science textbook or taking a geology course? the only way what your saying makes any sense if if you take that "7 days" figuratively. for example 7 days to god maybe be billions of years for us. but then again with that logic his son was on earth for nearly 6 seconds

i understand that you are trolling but i would hope you could come up with something better than this, especially with all your experience. maybe like something that has to do with life and not inanimate objects

Assuming that God is omnipotent, which I believe he is, it isn't a stretch of the imagination.

However, Genesis isn't meant to be read like Luke's Gospel (a historical account) but it is a way of making sense of God's creation. This would be like reading your maths textbook and criticising is for its lack of plot twists; it doesn't really make sense and is missing the author's point.

I do however believe the Christian God created the world. (still not sure how he did it)

If you can't even get a watch to form, how the hell would you create life by dropping some sand on the ground.

It doesn't make sense.

Dust was just floating around in space. Where the fuck did the dust come from? How did space come to exist? Where did the solar winds come from. Even if somehow that stuff was all magically there, how did some dust and some wind create the solar system, how the fuck did something so random get everything so incredibly precise, how did that create life from nothing?

It doesn't make any sense.

That didn't make any sense.

The bible is an outline for how to live, a description of how things came to be. History doesn't need plot twists it's about being truthful.

You can't pick and choose from the bible. You either believe it or you don't. You can't just pick out what you don't like

Im not picking and choosing.

The bible is a collection of 66 different books. Just like a library you are not supposed to read all books in the same style, History books in one way, fictional in another and so on. You can tell from the style how books are supposed to be read.

When is Psalms it says: the lord is my shepherd, I shall no be in want (psalm 23)

It is has a very different style to Historical passages in the New Testament. The same is true for Genesis, poetry and historical journal

They're written by different people.

They all have the word of God in them though. It's not a collection of random books, it's multiple books that make up one book.

I think you either believe the bible or you don't

The pope's at it again! Dropping parts of the bible to make Christianity seem more sensible... maybe one day they'll even advocate condom use for aid ravaged parts of Africa!!!

i'm not a creationist in a western religious sense, but it used to be hard for me to grasp that all the wonders of the universe happened by chance. Though, granted that time and space are both infinite, and that scientists are providing some evidence to the existence of multiple dimensions, I guess the chances aren't really that small at all.

I still consider myself to be religious however.

I agree, but I still think my point is valid. I believe in the whole bible, but taken out of context, both historically and by misinterpretation you can easily twist the words of God into something unbiblical.

I agree with that.

Some people take out sections that they like to go by and water down other spots. And then some people misinterpret the bible to justify whatever crazy ideas they have.

My problem is why do wise mystical masters always have to use story's and metaphors to get their points across, it would be so much easier if they just flat our say what they mean.

The pope also said that anyone who isnt catholic is gooing to hell. He's a crack head. And the aritcle says "converting to Christianity" when the pope and vatican are both catholic.

Yeh, I find that pretty frustrating.

also amusing to see my karma go down after trying to have a moderately intelligent condo on here. Must me some narrow minded people

Lol my karma is always dropping. It's weird sometimes though. Sometimes when I'm being a dick it starts to go up super fast, then when I'm being super legit and giving people helpful advice it goes down.

He always was. At least if you believe God was always there, the origins of the earth make sense.

Even if the dust and wind and space were all there, getting those things to magically come together is a fucking joke.

I'm not trolling other than maybe half of my first response.

I'm simply playing the devil's advocate and making what I feel is a decent enough argument.

riiiiggght.....and an all powerful, everlasting, has-no-origins wizard snapped his fingers to create everything we know isnt a fucking joke.

god has no creator, there for is an atheist itself.

Honestly it's on the same level as stuff just randomly being in space that randomly existed and then all the sudden shits forming with this and a while later we have a solar system and life and all kinds of shit.

So unlikely. At least with God you just have to believe in him and the rest becomes plausible.

yeah..... can you not use the word "retarded" its actually offensive.

And who are you to say his opinion is "truly" retarded???

You are being HYPOCRITICAL mother fucker!!!

expecting a piece of sand to evolve into life is a decent argument?

nobody knows the answers. smart people know about evolution, smart people know about physics and the universe. thats about it. fuck you all

at least with science you just have to look at facts and the rest becomes true.

i can just believe my student loans will disappear, and it will become plausible? sounds like a self fulfilling prophecy to me, except its unbelievable.

Stop hiding behind that book, or atleast read it and give me a decent argument.

but hopefully you're just trolling and actually have some sense

Before theabortionator turns this into another 10 page troll thread, I just want to say I knew he was a troll all along.

qft

and a general message:

dear americans,

please take a tough look outside your borders and you will probably realize that NO OTHER western country views this creationism/science debate as worthy of a discussion. "intelligent design" is just another word for the same uneducated crap. where does god come from? i know, he just is and always was. this is analog to saying the universe just is and always was but without the inclusion of a highly speculative form of existence.

yours sincerely,

feihlination.
