if so, how do you find a derivative using the ti-89? our class cant figure out how and our teacher wont tell us casue hes gay.

you press 'math' and scroll down to nDeriv,

oh wait,

you bought the more expensive and worthless 89, nevermind i have no idea and nether does anyone else.

press 2nd, then 8, but i would recommend just learning how to differetiate, so you can do calculus without your calculator, all the tests in my class have been non-calculator

yeah actually we just had the test on d/dx like 2 weeks ago so right now is pretty much useless info...but its good to know.

-press "on"

-press F3 (calc)

-press "1" (d( differentiate))

-type in: function

comma

variable

close parenthesis

-press enter

Find the 'd'. It should be a 2nd function of one of your keys, but I'm not sure about that. Then, do d(function, x) where x is the independent variable of your choice.

Calculators in Calculus? In my Calc courses at UBC thats unheard of...I remember back in High School I had a Ti-83 Plus!

If you want the specific value at a point, graph the function, then hit draw and tangent line then get the slope.
