Any advanced/expert skiers who started skiing quiet late?

Would be pretty cool to hear about people who for example couldn't even ski down a blue piste without falling at 18 and can do corks and rails and stuff at 23.

Just wondering to what extent you have to grow up skiing in order to have that feeling it, for pulling sick tricks with style etc. Are you somebody, or do you know people who turned out to be advanced/expert (park) skiers, who started like very late (after puberty)?

Lots of people go from zero to hero in a heartbeat. It's all attitude, mindset, exposure to good skiing, getting out ALOT , like everyday a lot and practice, getting and staying in shape etc

It also can depend on ur instructor if u take lessons. I was on parallel turns my first 1 hour lesson. I was hitting little jumps my like 10th day of the season.

if i remember correctly, colby west started at a pretty old age and became pro pretty quick

Was gonna say this one but he was crazy talented and hard working back then. And he was closer to started at 18 pro at 20. Seems that right around 20-22 seems to be the average peak for park skiers these days.

This is my second year skiing, and park. I can ski blacks and stuff but I'm not a great cliff dropper or anything. My rail game aint bad, but jumps kinda sucks. Best rail trick is like a super fed, I did my first front 6 like 2 weeks ago. My best jumps trick is just like a 540 or backflip

I moved from Florida to Utah in 2010, so that was my first season. You just gotta put the time in, if you want to.

That said, I still suck at skiing, so maybe listen to another human.

The trick is getting in as many days as you can. My second year skiing I was already better than most of my friends because I had 2-3x as many days as them.

This is my second year ever skiing I'm 18 and this is a list of everything I can do:

Rails-lip slide, backside 270, front side 270 and 450, and front switch ups

Jumps-Huge 180s, switch 180s, 360 grabs, and 540s

My goal this year is to learn front flips, backflips, misty 540, corks, a 720, and other on and off rail variations. Unfortunetly for me the snow situation has been pretty weak here in buffalo ny and the parks are pretty weak as well.

Great! and when you say a year skiing what do you mean? every weekend?

For now I can only do a backflip and frontflip on large kickers, the thing is I live in Belgium and I go ski only one week a year with the family, the first 2/3 days I'm more rehabilitating from not skiing a whole year, which leaves me 3 days to progress and try a new trick. Backflip was my first trick ever, havent really had the time to try something else actually. I sometimes have lucid dreams about skiing, doing big beautiful stylish spins, you know lucid dreams where I actually have this feeling for it and everything goes smooth, wish those LITERAL dreams could once become a reality. I hope to move to Vancouver one day. :)

ive YOLO'd some 360's on large kickers but I routinely cork a bit and land on my side, causing me to not breath for seconds, the other time I was left with a minor concussion, Gotta say backflips and frontflips are A TON easier than a 360's in my opinion and experience.
