Join 4chan.

What do you mean join 4chan?

You just discover it and frequent it, much like a strip club

NS was too tame for ALTANTASKI. After getting his account suspended too many times he gave up and went to frequent a site more for his style. More like when Coffee shops ban you for being a bad stoner, you sign up to crackhouses.

I regularly post on /sp/ /fit/ and /out/. I used to on /asp/ before it got taken over by the wrestlefags. I've been over there a lot longer than here but I think I made a post discussing the pros and cons of both sites. I guess I'll lay it out again briefly.

4chan pros:

Much larger userbase

No upvote/downvote so to denigrate or support someone or something you have to be able to coherently form an opinion, which leads to more independent thought and less mindless group mentality

Less mods, I agree with atlantaski, I like it better

More OC, just a result of having a larger userbase

Stay up to date on those hot new memes

Anonynimity let's people feel free to say what they really want

Newschoolers pros:

Much more personal community

Community has vast wealth of knowledge about my passion

Actual interesting community things like fantasy football league

Cool edits

4chan gets a bad rep because of all the gore, cp and other weird shit that people post there but theres been some really cool beautiful amusing funny things that have happened there too over the years.

Just my 2 cents

Nothing wrong about 4chan. To each his own really. Same goes to reddit and TGR forums, I couldnt care less. NS is tight community.

2004 here. Used to be trickstaj14 on here but changed my name awhile back. Mostly browse now and rarely post, but still here!

I only joined a few years ago...but i just wanted to say that even if the community is lacking at times it's incredible how tightly knit, welcoming and awesome it is.

I'm really jealous you guys got the live it during its prime, would've killed to be a part of NS back then but what can ya do...

Either way this community has helped me in numerous different ways and I want to say thanks.

I see the older homies here kind of like the really old english teacher you had in high school that celebrated his 45th anniversary with the school, and always has stories about the "good ole days". (In a good way, no hate at all)

I respect the heck out of you guys. We prolly wouldn't be here right now without you guys. I appreciate you guys.

I'd probably be a lot farther in life financially if I didn't, but it's been one HELL of a ride. The people you meet and the places you go are astounding. NS FTW!

Im coming up on 14 years soon on this account. I had an account before I made this one but I couldnt remember what it was when I had to make this one.

I still think my AR5s back in the early 2000s were the best skis I have ridden on for a do all ski.

Oakley puffys were the hot shit item. Oakley Wisdoms were the goggle to have.

THAT LOGO!!!! wow. so cool. so many memories!

NS is just laying low for now, it will have more great runs. This is the only place I get my news from so I dig it.

Curious question to you old timers who just lurk, what made you stop/what is keeping you from posting and contributing to forums?

It’s probably a combination of job, adult life, families/kids..etc. I’ve only been on since 2010 and I’m only 22 but compared to when I was 16/17 I don’t post nearly as much. Compared to the crowd of older heads I’m probably considered a frequent poster but I’m guessing I averaged ~1000-1500 posts a year and I’m prolly at like 500 on the year, maybe.

The forums also just have far less participation and way less meaningful threads.

I used to be able to sell nearly any ski good on the BST forum in a day or two. Now you are lucky if you get a few tire kickers a month. Ski and tech forums only have a few active participants.

NSG is NSG and will always be a fun shit show.

Nothing against the site, I still love it.

Also, I am trying to locate my old PPP icon with my pixalated face. Any ideas? This had to be back in 2005-2007 time frame.

For me it is fun to just observe where the sport and culture is now via the NS forums. I like what the youth are doing with the place and I never want to be that old salty dude sitting at the end of the bar in any overpriced ski town telling a sob story of "how it used to be". But if I was that guy I would be wearing an EC Headwear beanie and a completely patched up Siver Cartel kit telling you how lame the sport is now compared to "back in the day". So for me, I observe and read the opinions and ideas of all you great people and enjoy what NS is at this time.

And while I have your attention I want to let you all know my friend is about to run for 365 days straight. A marathon a day. Barefoot. South to North of Africa. Global fundraiser.

Hahahahaha yes, the buildup to that got me

Same as most of the above people (work/family/travel). I got stationed overseas and I was just so busy I didn't really enter the forums. When I came back this past spring it felt like the place was dead compared to what I remember 8-10 years ago. I'm back on almost every day now because this will always be my first/fav forum.

Facebook groups just consumed my life for the past few years as far as wasting time goes. I used to spend every second I wasn't working during the summer on here. I jumped into other forums for cars/travel other sports and they always ended up being such a shit show as well as super inconvenient to read/post IMHO. I'm trying to get back on here because NS introduced me to so much more than just skiing. Seemed like their used to be active cults/threads for almost everything. It'll be a rager again... nothing can touch this layout.

100%. I just can’t get down with other forums, not sure if it is the layout or not being into the content or community. But I always have come to NS for a good read or when I need a laugh. It will pick up again.

People used to say that chatrooms were dangerous, but fuck that i spent entirely too much time on this site and learned way more than i could ever imagine. Don't post much anymore but I dont know what i'd do without at least the home page videos. Cults were cool, i miss cults.

If 4chan is an 8 lane superhighway,

ns is a capillary

At best

Did anyone ever figure out who Lil_G was? I was Lil_Gs_Dad until a mod banned me for giving Lil_G a lecture.
