So basically I been super suffering with my anxiety like majority, to the point where it's been stopping me doing cool shit like going on climbing trips and stopping me enjoying shit like mad parties and shit. Was wondering how people on here in a simular situation cope or have managed to overcome I because I need my life back a lil bit

What about these situations is making you anxious? Hard to offer advice without knowing what you're anxious about.
 
if it's affecting you to the point you don't want to do things and you can't find a way to relieve it then you should probably talk to a specialist or something. don't take the drugs they give you though.

This. Look at the stats none of the drugs work without talking therapy and talking therapy is effective even if people don't take the drugs.

Mental behavior is just like any skiing or any other physical behavior. You need to train yourself to have a less anxious mental state. This is going to take practice just like skiing.
 
The worst place to get advice is from people who don't know the extent or severity of what you are going through. There is a mental health cult that I believe is open to all. If anything, they won't heckle you as hard. The users in there should be able to empathize with you some. Keep talking about it brother. No can give you the answer for your situation, and finding the answers yourself won't come easy.

Yeah, different people react differently to different medication. I wouldn't take advice about taking or not taking medicine from anyone on NS. To say it doesn't work and shouldn't be done is just stupid. Yes, therapy is more helpful than medicating in terms of getting yourself better and not just coping with the problem, but the two can definitely be done in conjunction and have an even greater effect.

Meds help at first, but they can become a crutch. For a lot of people there comes a time when you don't want to be on meds anymore and adjusting without them is difficult.

In my experience, meds weren't the way to go. Just put me in a constant daze. I wasn't me and would rather go through panic attacks than be a damn zombie. It's different for everyone though. Gotta do what's best for you.

This is all I'm trying to say. I'm not saying definitely take meds, but it's really stupid, even potentially harmful, for anyone to suggest that OP definitely shouldn't take meds, because they can be very helpful for some people. All I'm saying is OP should listen to his doctor, not people on NS who probably don't know very well what the hell they're talking about.

Can confirm. Smoking during times of extra anxiety throws me into a hellish nightmare like existence for the next few hours.

Therapists, Meds (as much as i hate them, klonopin does wonders when its the only option), yoga, breathing exercises, meditation all can help, and getting off the internet.
 
I went to therapy or my anxiety and it helped so, so much. PM if you ever need to.

As for smoking, in some people it helps. It helped at first for me, but then I became too dependent on it, and ended up making my anxiety even worse until I had a meltdown and thought I needed to kill myself and break up with my boyfriend. Weed isn't for everyone, I suggest exercising great caution in the strains you smoke should you choose to.

I can tell there is something missing from your life. Meditate and exercise. Find out what you want then pursue it with passion. It will keep your mind off of whatever is bringing you down.

Yeah, you will have to replace your anxious mind state with something else. You can't just will it away by thinking "I'm not going to be anxious or ruminate on these thoughts". Think of it like skiing a difficult line. To ski well you need to focus on what you how you want to ski not how you don't want to ski.

I really dont wanna sound like a dick but I went through stuff similar to this, but I don't think it was that bad but really I just stopped being a pussy and put my self out there
 
And I forgot to add this but just go for it and force your self to do it, if you just show up to a party it cant really back fire and then you realize it's not that bad and eventually you will start having a lot more fun in life
