'I find it ironic that the 'anti-military' protesters in my town don't seem to notice that they are protesting the very group that is defending their right to hate the military.'
Again, an American gets it wrong. I see it every time I watch CNN, every time I read stuff on MSNBC, and every time I talk to someone who's actually American. Anti-war people are NOT military hating losers. They 'love' and 'support' their military as much as anyone else. They're also as 'patriotic' as you are. They also see the bigger picture, and understand what's going on in the world a lot more than most people in the US right now. Patriotism has nothing to do with your views on the war, nor your level of troop support.
As for Andy's 'explanation' of why flag burning is oh so very bad, well...he never actually said anything other than ''A flag is not just a peice of cloth.'. Do you care to explain that statement? Here's my understanding of it: A flag is a symbol of your country. As such, it is the PERFECT symbol to easily destroy when you don't agree with government policies or actions. In fact, flag burning makes perfect sense. However, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, and that line is crossed when you burn flags because you just don't 'like' another country. Burn my flag because you don't agree with Canadian government policies regarding the American war on Iraq, and I'm ok with that. Burn my flag because you have a personal dislike of my country, and I will make sure you get what you deserve for performing such an IGNORANT and STUPID act. As for Andy's comment regarding arguing with retards, I now understand that it was actually directed towards me, and of course others. I'm actually not too surprised to see him write that, considering the low quality of argument he can post. Makes me wonder who the 'retard' really is...
