hucksterjibber: where do you live dude? In Ottawa, we've had 8 murders this year. Police have done a pretty good job preventing people from killing each other in the capital.

If the cops show up and the first thing you kiddies say is 'the you pig'. You are going to be kissing the dirt. You've already started the situation in an aggressive fashion. The Police will arrest you before the situation escalates.

So, when someone calls the Police on you. Speak politely and courtiously and chances are, you'll be left alone shortly.

I've had Police break up parties of mine. (3 squad cars and more awaiting around the corner) I've been pulled over more than most people should. (it goes with riding a sportbike, only have received 2 tickets)

I've also assisted 2 police officers arresting someone.

Show them respect, and they will respect you in return.

I kinda have to respect the cops around here cause they're like my friends dads and moms and stuff and it's wierd... But yeah, if you're polite about it and act all cute and bat your eyes you can get away with nothing more than a warning. And if you're a chick than all you have to do is start crying... haha

Yeah well mabie the cops where you live are nice guys and respect you and such, but around here they harass you for everything they can within their power. You dont even have to get the cops called on you, they just drive around everywhere trying to arrest people for stupid shit when no one called them and their not bothering anyone..even when there's not drinking or smoking or anything, they just like to harass people around here because they have nothing better to do and no one commits any real crimes in this town. and they are NOT respectfull to you even if you are very respectfull to them,

i.e. yelling unnecesaraly, instulting/talking down on people for no reason, ect.

here's a story for you. this summer me and my friend went swimming at a local pond, and it was like dusk. we start walking down to the lake when an undercover cop jumps out of the bushes with his flashlight, and yells at us to put our hands up. we (lol) drop our towels and ask what's wrong. he gets up in our faces with his flashlight, saying our eyes look like we're 'on drugs' (we hadent even smoked yet). my friend had a water bottle in his pocket filled with water. the cop pulls the bottle out of his pocket and tastes it, to see if it is water. he says it 'dosent taste right' and throws it into the woods. he then 'escorts us back to our car' to get our lisences so he can 'verify our identity'(i.e. visualy search the car with his flashlight) as we're getting the id's, another car with a few kids in it pulls into the parking lot. the undercover ducks behind our car and tells us to 'pretend like he isent there'. me and my friend looked at each other like what the fuck, and proceeded to look at the cop, then look at the kids, then look at the cop, then look at the kids untill the kids got too freaked out and drove away. the undercover was realy pissed, but he couldent hold us on anything so he let us go saying 'and remember, there's no fucking swiming after dark and stay away from the fucking drugs all you scumbag kids are on', or somthing to that effect. he followed us in his black undercover SUV until we got back to my house, and then proced to drive by several times. we were more than polite to him the entire time. this is the kind of shit we have to deal with around here every fucking day so dont tell me that because the cops where you live are nice that they are like that everywhere.

whoa man, yeah the cops here have nothing to do either but they don't just like start busting people for stupid shit like that! haha, we had this big party once and these four squad cars pull up and me and two of my friends were standing out front just kind of getting ready to leave and there were a couple really hot girls we were talking to and two of the cops come over and are like, 'This your house?' and we were all like no and he just kinda shruged and told us not to do drugs and to use protection in a sorta joking way...

That really sucks for anybody who has to put up with shit like ^ that tho

Police have one of the hardest jobs; their job is to serve and protect the people but sadly enough the people hardly give them any respect.

For this I'm thankful - that I always have the police to call in time of emergency.

I have made mistakes in the past flanker, and I would be the first to admit them..I realize that there are consequences to every action. I accept that. I WILL not try and put the blame on someone else (many people will try blaming the police).

If you missed it, the majority of my stories were in regards to people who DIDN'T do anything wrong in the first place.

My problem with the police system, is that it's just a job for most of them. They could care less if you're innocent or guilty - they get paid either way. Regardless if you're innocent or not, they would rather you be in prison. Because now you are in the system.

I used to have utmost respect for police, but that has changed through my experiences. Maybe one day you'll spend 6 months behind bars for something you didn't do. I guarantee you that your view will drastically change.

you wont be complainin when some fuck breaks into your house and kills your wife then, you gonna handle it yourself? or then are the police ok? for fucks sakes guys, they're paid to do a job, keep order, we're the ones putting the world in the shitter and all you do is complain about the guys trying to help us out? i hope to god that something bad happens to you who are complainin so you realize that the police are just as helpful as they are pains in the ass.

alright I'll let the thread die after this post cuz I would liek to state my case. I feel that the police should focus on violent crimes like robbery, rape, murder, grand theft auto, whatever. And to do this they should spend less time busting kids for MIPs or MICs and speeding tickets and such. Think about how often you see a cop sitting on the side of a road running radar, I personally feel that their time would be much better spent investigating violent crimes. so if you feel otherwise thats great, if you agree thats great. So just think about that. thank you

If the point of the police is to protect the people then why do they spend most of their resorces trying to protect them from themselves?

I understand violent crimes, because the people need protection. That is the point of the police, so people can go about their lives making the decisons they want to without worrying about somone harming them/stealing things from them, ect. In non violent crimes the only victim is the person who made the decision, and i think if your going to be stupid and hurt yourself it's one less stupid person. This protectionary force has it's prioraties so out of whack with the general populous that people have to worry more about the police themseves than harm from the fellow citicens around you.
