ANTI-4/20

just relax man. its good that you are passionate about something, even if that something is making fun of and stereotyping people that have to make guesses about, as you said yourself.

i know a few people from st mikes that certainly arent terribly wealthy from any means, and its bullshit that you would stereotype the entire school as being yuppie poseurs. this kid i know, and all of his friends, truly do care about the environment, and they practice conservation all the time. yes they do smoke weed, but they feel it is the gift that the earth gives back to them in return for their service.

i do agree with you that alot of people only listen to reggae, smoke weed,and pretend to celebrate 4/20 just so that they are looked upon as "chill kids" "hippies" and "stoners". but this problem doesnt seem to be as big in colleges as it is in high schools. kids i see every day waste every second of their life, and all of their energy putting up a false image of themselves. sure they are the "cool kids" because they do and say all the things that are stereotypical of a kid in their position, but they're lying to themselves.

im not sure if you know what the origin of 4/20 day is, and there are many different reasons that it is a celebrated day, but, i can tell you that the day does go back to haight-ashbury, where the greatful dead are from. is not just a day for kids to brag in school about being really really ripped, but that meaning is lost in translation sometimes.

regardless, you shouldnt call people out that dont deserve it
 
you dont smoke weed do you. you should try, it might help you chill the fuck out and stop judging people you dont even know.
 
Frat boy's are douche's eh? Another stupid stereotype. I'm here on UVM campus and I had to leave campus and ride my motorcycle all day because I got so sick of the hippies here. I hate UVM and today didn't help.

I agree with what you say about a lot of rich college kids, but how can you hate on real hippies that blaze? stoned people dont start wars haha and tons of skiers blaze. and 420 is fuckin tight so quit bitching
 
i don't think a hippie would ever ride salomon. and the line motherships and chronics are sweet...beisdes no hippies ride twin tips, they all telemark, its a known scientific fact.

To clear things up, I'm not trashing everyone who smokes. My two room mates blaze all the time. I don't care about that, I'm just merely commenting upon those who try to adhere to the certain "hippy" image when they get to college because it is an IMAGE. Not because they actually want to be green, change the world or promote any other environmental agenda. I go to St Mikes and know a few kids who are pretty active with the whole green movement that I could say are hippies and I have no problem with them and their smoking scene. I'm merely just ranting about those kids who try and sell their pseudo-hippy image on 4/20.
 
smoke weed..have a good time, i dont care about these "trustafarians" as long as their chill, can hold a good conversation. its better to be a 'fake' hippy than a fake something else, at least their not pretending to be ghetto, thats the worst.
 
yeah man... im an environmentalist for sure... i smoke pot but that was before i realized the effects my lifestyle was having on the planet. and i fully hate the people who all of a sudden just start munching on chick peas because of the image. I research alot into what exactly we are doing that is fucking everything up, and actually research, find, and act out on solutions, rather than alot of people who just sit there and say fight the man save the empire. i completely agree that the fake hippies are the worst... my school is full of them, and me being the head of the environmental affairs club need to deal with them, which sucks cause i dont like them. but it is wrong to put stoners into the same category as fake, rich ass hippies. because just because all fake hippies are stoners, does not mean all stoners are fake hippies.

Ask yourself what you like to do the most.

Then ask yourself if you think anybody out there would question or disaproove of what you like the most.

Now ask yourself what the difference is between a pot head and a skier or clay model artist.

Really nothing. just people doing what they love.
 
I go to UVM and he is pretty much right. There are some good hippies, but for the most part they are selfish suburban rich kids who sit around and get high all day complaining about everything while not actually doing anything.
 
See, I know the image you speak of.. and I agree and think they're as whack as the yuppies at a punk concert with studded belts. On the contrary, I bet you're quick to say these people are just simply yuppie kids who get everything and do nothing and just complain about everything. Also, some of these people may actually be trying to get into something simply because they weren't aware of it before. I grew up in a conservative upper middle-class family and was never opened up to these kinds of things. Once I was aware of them, I found them quite interesting and began to adapt toward these ways. Lots of times people aren't what they appear to be man, and everywhere everyone is trying to be someone. Just let them be, really.

Also, I smoke plenty of pot and did not burn one down on 4/20. The reason is because when I started smoking weed, I did it for a reason and when I smoked I was productive. On 4/20... everyone smokes just to smoke. It's simply an excuse for everyone to get high. I don't need an excuse to get high.. and to me it was Thursday, April 20th, and not 4/20.
 
Everyone at my school that smokes weed at least once a week are all complete idiots in school and are failing at least 1 course.
 
dude i love ultimate frisby, but yea there are way too many wanna-be hippies nowadays, but none the less ultimate is a great game
