Anthems are officially not coming out this season

I hate KISS so much. It sucks that they have to cancel all orders too. They should at least be allowed to sell the skis already ordered, but just not take anymore orders. KISS sucks. I never enjoyed listening to them. They are N'sync with makeup on.
 
yea, marley ski would be sick, or just a rasta ski in general would be sick, im thinking rasta colored bases with bob on top smoking a fat one, yea those would be sick

The thing that I don't get is, I honestly do not see the Copyright infringment.

There is no logo or anything.

It's just a big record label bullying around a small company for profits.

Over a band whose music has always been shitty.
 
fuck dat shit!! i GET a call from my local ski shop tonight .i answer the phone "DID YOU GET MY SKIS!!!!!!!" and the guys just like your going to hate me in a seconed. Then he tells me all this stuff. AND FUCK i already had them paid off and orderd and binders for them fuck
 
^^^^ nice icon. yea that sucks for all you guys that ordered them. and i agree with the guy up a few. i really dont see the copyright infringement. they are not gonna be able to prove that it was a person from kiss. just some guy with facepaint. hell i used to wear facepaint on halloween... are they gonna sue me now?
 
does anyone know what particular aspect of the design and or graphics is being questioned? it sucks to see soemthing like this happen especially when its some old fuckers who should be dead already anyways making a big deal over fucking ski graphics and shit..
 
word on the street is that the drummer was the problem...while the drummer may be dead. the family wanted to claim royalties since gene pretty much claimed royalties on everything else.
 
because the skis are already made. To change the graphics they would have to make a new batch of several thousand skis overnight. The cost would be enormous.
 
it is not a copyright problem really it is called misappropriation of publicity. The Right of Publicity prevents the unauthorized commercial use of an individual's name, likeness, or other recognizable aspects of one's persona. It gives an individual the exclusive right to license the use of their identity for commercial promotion
 
^^ because as I understood from the 2 intellectual property law classes I took, over here, once you become a public person (i.e. generally known) you lose the rights to your face image... PLUS you could call the right to caricature (which the graphics on this ski obviously IS).

I would suggest LINE to look into it, if they can sell outside the USA.
 
Next years anthems = Bob Marley skis.

KISS is not a rock band. Any band that sues a ski company that is trying make a sick ass ski is not a rock band and deserves to have all their records and CD's 'Dixie Chix'd' to hell... true Patriot gangster style.
 
i think they should just sell them with big stickers covering the entire graphic of the ski...

if the stickers come off after being purchased it's not like the kiss graphic sold the ski
 
the year before that had rasta colours and some apple wearing a rasta hat smokin it up. too bad they kinda sucked
 
So, my question is:

What is going to happen to the thousands of Anthems that were manufactured and ready to be shipped?

I'm thinking I might go camp out next to lines distribution center dumpster and wait for the day that toss 5000 pairs of skis in the garbage!!
 
Shitt.. I'm with you there bud.

I think that they should secretly sell them on the black market for uber cheep.. that way I can get a pair..

Dear Line Supporters,

Line Skis have never been known for coloring within the lines. It’s what makes us who we are

and what has kept us unique, innovative, and always pushing the edge. Our highly anticipated

new Anthem ski is the perfect example this pioneering spirit.

Unfortunately due to potential legal issues relating to the Anthem’s graphics we will not be

delivering this model. Consequently, this letter is formally advising you that we are cancelling your

current orders for the Anthem and do not anticipate the ability to deliver this model to you at any

point in the near future.

Trust me when I say we are as disappointed as you are by this unforeseen chain of events. I

personally apologize for any aggravation or inconvenience this has caused. When you’re dealing

with lawyers and rock stars, things are not so easy.

We created this new, one-of-a-kind, fat, symmetric, freestyle ski that was like nothing the ski

world had ever seen. Its features and performance were so unique, it instantly became our 2nd

most popular model with dealers, as well as one of our personal favorites.

Rock and roll will never die! Nor will the Anthem.

I look forward to us all getting on it next year.

We suggest that any of you that have pre-ordered this model contact your shop and request a

different model as soon as possible.
