Answering Questions In Class

Do you answer questions that your teacher asks in class?

I'm sure that I may be in the minority that actually answers questions in class, but I just feel awful for the teacher that just has to stand in front of the class looking defeated as everyone gives them the blank stare of stupidity. I'm sure it's not very "cool" of me to still be answering questions, but I feel obligated when I know answer. It is one of my biggest pet peeves after four years of college.

Any others out there, or do we all go blank in class and sit on NS?

I don't answer questions because I want to let the fools answer them so when they get it wrong I can laugh

I'm always the one that breaks an awkward 5 second pause. If I know the answer and there's an awkward pause, I feel like I need to break it. I rarely outright answer questions right away.

good for you man. seriously. so fucking annoying how many passive assholes there are in class. don't come to class if you're going to text or sit on FB, don't waste your time

but, don't do it because you feel bad for the teacher do it because you're choosing to engage in your education instead of just sitting there to make mommy and daddy happy

Well said. It's really obnoxious when my C++ teacher pairs me up with people who waste our class time playing flash games.

Teachers will like you a lot more if you're engaged in class, meaning they'll be a lot more lenient with late work and stuff.

That being said, I do it a little bit. If its a class discussion, I will fully participate. I love getting into debates with kids.

nah i like to watch the teacher awkwardly stand there while everyone stares at them in silence.

We would not get along in class, but that's what i like about honors classes. We sit in these baller presidential chairs and debate and talk with each other rather than sit there and listen to a teacher talk for 90 minutes strait.

Theres discussion classes and then there are lecture classes. But nice way to claim you're an honor student

i find it's a lot easier to engage myself in class if it's a smaller class size. i participate completely in my small geology lab, and it's great. it helps me learn more effectively, and it makes talking with the teacher more casual and constructive.

in big lectures i usually just see how the rest of the class reacts to a question and most of the time i'll know the answer and just use the spare 7 seconds to zone out or complete a personal thought. otherwise i'm pretty good about speaking up if i have an issue because if not then why the fuck am i there?

For the sake of your generation... ANSWER the questions. This will benefit you immensely in life. It teaches you to think on your feet and not be afraid to answer incorrectly. This is the most important life skill you can develop in school the rest of it is bullshit. It will make you very valuable in the future.

Secondly, don't care what others think.

I go to the the Derek Zoolander school for kids who can't read good and want to do other stuff good too, and since I could spell most of my name correctly I graduated in 3 weeks.

I think I answered a question in middle school once. I never bother because why steal the limelight from the douchey know-it-all kids? Plus, there's never a chance to fuck up and embarrass yourself

Sadly no, in public speaking I had to give a speech about how there is more to life then being really smart (because we were honors classes) and being really, really, really, ridiculously good looking.
