Another "what skis" thread

Sorry to make this lame for you guys, but I need help. Before I start, I want to let you know what I'll be skiing in. Our resort doesn't get too much snow. Like 30 cm on a very good day, and those don't happen too often. But there are lots of like 5 cm days, and I ski out of bounds a lot, especially on a pow day. But even when it's not a powder day, out of bounds still has lot's of snow. I'm not the best freestyle/jumping skier, but I like to think that I'm quite a strong (for lack of a better word) actual skier. I do want to get more into the whole backwards/forwards pow thing though, so I'd mount my skis center, or close to it. What do you guys think, I'm looking at this years hellbent for like $530, this years surface new life for like $300, this years live lifes for like $300, or ghost chants for who knows how much. Please help me out

You can never go wrong with K2, solid durable skis and a really good company. Despite its size, they know how to handle individuals with care.

hellbents may be a bit excessive for the amount of snow you described, but its all a matter of preference, maybe look int something like the k2 kung fujas or line blend

^ That's what I'm thinking, but at the same time, I definitely like the wider skis, and the hellbents seem like not the worst like all mountain ski

look, this is my opinion but the Hellbent's are not really what you should be looking for. They are FAT and I don't mean too fat that you cant ski them, but they really are designed for deep power days, waist high stuff. I skied them in Japan about a month ago and although I liked them in the real deep stuff, I found that they were just too much ski when ever there wasn't deep snow, and that there are much better versatile options, especially if your only skiing 'once in a while, max 30cm deep' snow.I would suggest looking into a Mid Fat, something around the 100 mark that will be ample enough to allow you to ski your foot of pow and still ski the park and all mountain fine. Either the Volkl Bridge, Line Blend, Rossi s5, Rossi s3 or ON3P J-mo are a few that come to mind (for reference I have skied the blend and the s5 in 30 - 50 cm fresh and it handled them fine, I actually replaced the HellBents with the Bridges as they ripped pretty much all over.
Also I haven't had any personal experience with surface but I have heard that there durabillity is questionable, although I may be wrong.

they arenit the greatest out of the pow... try looking into obsetheds, not the fattest thing out there but still has alot of float and a sick graphic.

thanks for all the reply's guys, I really appreciate it. I forgot to mention that I'm not only going to have one pair of skis. I'll have two, maybe three, and I'd only use these skis on pow days. But The response I'm getting seems to be the same as I get at shops when I ask around. So once again, thanks a lot. Whatabout last years bents?
